HomeMy WebLinkAbout76-4-1256118,,- ORDINANCE NO. 76-4-1256 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 10-52, 10-53, 10-54, 10-55, 10-56, 10-59 AND 10-61 OF CHAPTER 10 "CIVIL SERVICE" OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH , KENTUCKY BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That Section 10-52 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and reordained shall hereafter read as follows: "Sec . 10-52 Street department -generally . (a) There is hereby authorized and created the following positions in the street department, and the salaries of each position, provided the amount of such salary is not changed under any apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted, shall be as follows: Position Night foreman Foreman (4 positions) Garage foreman Office manager Sewer maintenance man (6 positions) Equipment operator "A" (5 positions) Equipment operator "B" (6 positions) Equipment operator "C" (2 positions) Street repairman (6 positions) Truck drivers (12 positions) Night watchman Laborers (3 positions) Chief mechanic Mechanic Class "A" (5 positions) Mechanic Class "B" (2 positions) Concrete finisher (3 positions) Base Monthly Salary 900.00 860.00 860.00 640.00 Base Hourly Rate 4.10 4.44 4.33 4.21 3.99 3.88 3.88 3.62 4.55 4.44 4.21 4.44 Vehicle body repairman 4.33 (b) Office manager shall be paid at the rate of $640.00 per month for the first year of employment; at the expiration of one year $658.00 per month; and at the 119 expiration of two years $668.00 per month, such increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager . (c) Laborers shall be paid at the rate of $3.62 per hour for the first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months $3.67 per hour; at the expiration of one year $3.72 per hour; and at the expiration of two years $3.77 per hour, such increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager . (d) All other positions of hourly employment shall be paid at the base hourly rate for the first six months of employment , and at the expiration of six months the rate of pay shall be increased by $0.05 per hour, such increases to be made upon recom- mendation of the city manager." SECTION 2. That Section 10-53 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and reordained shall hereafter read as follows: "Sec. 10-53. Refuse department. (a) There is hereby authorized and created the following positions in the refuse (sanitation) department, and the salary of each position, provided the amount of such salary is not changed under any apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted, shall be as follows: Position Base Hourly Rate Collectors (23 positions) Truck drivers class "A" (3 positions) Truck drivers (8 positions) Tire repairman (1 position) Equipment operator "A" (2 positions) Mechanic class "B" 3.62 4.10 3.88 4.21 4.44 4.21 (b) Collectors shall be paid at the rate of $3.62 per hour for the first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months $3.67 per hour; at the expiration of one year $3.72 per hour, and at the expiration of two years $3.77 per hour, such increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager . (c) Collectors assigned to operate vehicular collection equipment shall be assigned on the basis of seniority and qualifications and shall receive an additional „. ,,. $0.10 per hour for hours worked in the operation of the vehicles. (d) All other positions of hourly employment, except class "A" truck driver, shall be paid at the base hourly rate for the first six months of employment and at the expiration of six months the rate of pay shall be increased by $0.05 per hour, such increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager ." 120 SECTION 3. That Section 10-54 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and reordained shall hereafter read as follows: "Sec . 10- 54 . Cemetery department . (a) There is hereby authorized and created the following positions in the cemetery department and the salary of each position , provided the amount of such salary is not changed under any apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted , shall be as follows: Position Equipment operator "C" Truck drivers (3 positions) Laborers (3 positions ) Base Hourly Rate 4.21 3.88 3.62 (b) Laborers shall be paid at the rate of $3.62 per hour for the first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months $3.67 per hour; at the expiration of one year $3.72 per hour; and at the expiration of two years $3.77 per hour, such increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager . (c) All other positions of hourly employment shall be paid at the base hourly rate for the first six months of employment, and at the expiration of six months the rate of pay shall be increased by $0.05 per hour , such increases to be made upon recom- mendation of the city manager . " SECTION 4. That Section 10-55 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and reordained shall hereafter read as follows: "Sec . 10-55 . Floodwall department . (a) There is hereby authorized and created the following positions in the Foodwall department, and the salary of each position, provided the amount of such salary is not changed under any apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted, shall be as follows: Position Base Monthly Salary Floodwall chief foreman 910.00 Floodwall maintenance (operators) (3 positions) 719.00 Floodwall maintenance man "A" (operator) (1 position) 817.00 (b) The chief foreman shall be paid at the rate of $910.00 per month for the first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months $920.00 per month; and at the expiration of one year $930.00 per month, such increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager . 121 ~cfj. " SECTION 5. That Section 10-56 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of :Paducah, Kentucky; be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and reordained shall hereafter read, as follows: "Sec. 10-56. Sewage~disposaI department. " SECTION 6. (c) Ail other positions of hourly employment shall be paid at the base hourly rate for the first six months of employment , and at the expiration of six months the rate of pay shall be increased by $0.05 per hour, such increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager . (d) The clerk-typist shall be paid at the rate of $490.00 per month for the first six months.of employment; at the expiration of six months $535.00 per month; at the expiration of one year $545.00 per month; at the expiration of two years $555.00 per month, and at the expiration of three years $565.00 per month; such increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager . SECTION 7. That Section 10-61 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and reordained shall hereafter read as follows: "Sec. 10-61. Unassigned positions. Building and electrical inspector Assistant to building and electrical inspector Evaluation clerk Clerk-typist l,oafl.oo Base Hourly Rate 4.2T_ 4.60 4.1'0. _. 3:99 3:62 3.32 3.62 Base Monthly Salary 1,125.00 660.00 660.00 490.00 (b) The building and electrical inspector shall perform the duties formerly performed by the building inspector and the electrical inspector, and said building and electrical inspector shall be under the direct supervision of the city manager . (c) Maintenance positions shall be paid at the base hourly rate for the first six months of employment, and at the expiration of six months the rate of pay shall be increased by $0.05 per hour, such increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager . (d) Janitor and laborer positions shall be paid at the base hourly rate for the first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months there may be an increase of $0.05 per hour; at the expiration of one year there may be an additional increase of $0.05 per hour , and at the expiration of two years there may be an additional increase of $0.05 per hour, such increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager. (e) The clerk-typist shall be paid at the rate of $490.00 per month for the first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months $535.00 per month; at the expiration of one year $545.00 per month; at the expiration of two years $555.00 per month; and at the expiration of three years $565.00 per month, such increases to be.made upon recommendation of the city manager." (f) The Chief of the maintenance division may designate one employee in his department to act as a lead-man or part-time working foreman to serve in such capacity at the direction of the Chief of the maintenance division, or at such times as the Chief of the maintenance division is on leave. The employee so designated shall be paid an 124 additional .$0.15 per hour during such times as the employee designated actually serves in such capacity . SECTION 8. Sections 1, 4, 5, 6 and 7 were last amended by Ordinance No. 76-3-124~9'adopted March 23, 1976; Section 2 was last amended by Ordinance. No. 75-3-10'98 adopted March 25, 1975, and Section 3 was last amended by Ordinance No. 75-5-112.0 adopted May 6, 1975. SECTION 9.
