HomeMy WebLinkAbout76-4-125110~ ORDINANCE NO. 76-4-1251 AN ORDINANCE CALLING FOR A REFERENDUM IN THE MAY 1976 PRIMARY REGARDING COLLECTIVE BARGAINING BETWEEN THE CITY OF PADUCAH AND THE MEMBERS OF PROFESSIONAL FIREFIGHTERS' LOCAL NO. 168 WHEREAS , on February 18 , 1976 , the City of Paducah and Professional Firefighters' Local No . 168 entered into a settlement of the then existing strike being exercised by the City by'the aforesaid firefighters, and WHEREAS , among the terms and provisions of the aforesaid settlement there was to be submitted to the voters of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, in the May 1976 primary a referendum concerning collective bargaining between the City of Paducah and the members of Professional Firefighters' Local No. 168, and WHEREAS , it is necessary that the aforesaid question be defined and certified to the McCracken County Court Clerk's Office . NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH , KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the ballot contained in the May 1976 primary include the following question which shall be submitted to the voters of the City of Paducah, Kentucky , in the following form: "The City of Paducah and its employees , being members of Professional Firefighters' Local No. 168, will enter into meaningful collective bargaining and any agreement resulting therefrom shall contain a "No-Strike" provision and a "No-Lockout" provision with penalties for violation of each provision and an arbitration method for the purpose of solving impasses." Provision shall be made upon the left side of the ballot, following the question for votes in favor of the collective bargaining to be designated by the word "Yes" and on the right side of the ballot for votes opposing same to be designated by the word "No" SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall file a certified copy of this ordinance with the County Court Clerk of McCracken County, Kentucky, within the time prescribed by law , with instructions to the County Court Clerk to cause the aforesaid question set out in this ordinance to be printed upon the ballots to be used in city precincts in the May 1976 primary. The election shall be held and conducted under all applicable provisions governing elections in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. SECTION 3. A true copy of this ordinance shall also be published in the 110 Paducah Sun-Democrat upon its adoption and again; at least once, within the fourteen (14) days next preceding the said election. SECTION 4.
