AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SUB -SECTION (a) OF SECTION 12-19, "NUMBER,
RANK AND SALARIES OF MEMBERS" OF ARTICLE II "FIRE DEPARTMENT" OF THE CODE
OF ORDINANCES OF `THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That Sub -section (a) of Section 12-19, "Number, _rank and
salaries of members"', of Article II "Fire Department" of the Code of Ordinances of the
City.. of Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that same as amended and
reordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 12-19. Number, rank and salaries of members.
(a) The number and rank of the members of the Fire Department of the
City. and the salary of..each position that shall be paid upon satisfactory completion
of 'eonsecutive years`.of service in the Fire Department:

for the captain -training officer.

(b) In- the event "a member of the fire department, acts in a position of
responsibility higher, than the position the member holds, and provided the period
of ,responsibility is in excess of six hours during any work shift, the member
shalt -be compensated as` .follows: Effective July 1, 1980, captain acting as assistant
chief;.$8.00 per hour and effective July 1, 1981, $9.00 per hour. Lieutenant
acting as captain effective -July 1, 1980, $7.00 per hour and effective July'l, 1981,
$8,00' per hour. Firefighter acting as lieutenant effective July 1, 1980, $6.00 per
hour and effective July 1., 1981, $7.00 per hour. Such compensation shall be paid
for any condition creating' an absence within a position for which the acting officers
are required to serve, including vacancy within the position, illness, vacations and
holiday,,times, acting.. in another position, or temporary additional assignments.
Such compensation's ha I .not be paid for assignments `resulting from members taking.
accumulated time, operating on work -back -provisions, attending schools or seminars,
or, for any other reason : than stated above. Acting pay shall be accounted for by
the -assistant fire chiefs -and payment shall be made annually with the last -pay
check each year. Acting pay shall be subject to all payroll deductions.
(c) Captains, lieutenants and firefighters shall be paid -the aforesaid --
hourly rates during each. "weekly period beginning on Monday and ending on
Sunda, for the first forty' (40) hours of duty, and at one and one-half times said
hourly rates for each duty hour in excess of forty (40) .

(d) A firefighter who is regularly assigned as a relief driver by the
chief of the Paducah Fire Department, after approval by the City Manager, shall
for such assignment receive additional compensation in an amount not to exceed
$0.04 per hour".
SECTION 2. This ordinance amends an ordinance originally adopted
on (December 11, 1951 and last amended by Ordinance No. 80-7-1937.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be read on two separate days and will
be effective upon publication of title and a certified summary thereof.
