HomeMy WebLinkAbout80-8-1964731 ORDINANCE NO. 80-8-1964 10-52 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 10-51; /10-53; 10-54; 10-55; 10-58; 10-59; 10-61 AND CREATING SECTION 10-63, "CIVIL SERVICE" OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That Section 10-51 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and reordained shall hereafter read as follows: "Sec. 10-51. Engineering department. (a) There is hereby created and authorized the following positions in the Engineering Department, and the salary of each position that shall be paid upon satisfactory completion of consecutive years of service, in this position, and upon recommendation of the City Manager. "Sec. 10-52. Street department - generally. SECTION 3. That Section 10-53 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and reordained shall hereafter read as follows: "Sec. 10-53. Refuse Department. (c) Collectors assigned to operate vehicular collection equipment shall be assigned on the basis of seniority and qualifications and shall receive an additional $0.10 per hour for hours worked in the operation of the vehicles. (d) All other positions of hourly employment, except Class "A" truck drivers, shall be paid at the base hourly rate for the first six months of employ- ment; and at the expiration of six months the rate of pay shall be increased by $0.05 per hour; such increases to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager." SECTION 4. That Section 10-54 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be -amended and reordained so that said section as amended and reordained shall hereafter read as follows: "Sec. 10-54. Cemetery department. (c) All other positions of hourly employment shall be paid at the base hourly rate for the firstsixmonths of employment; and at the expiration of six .months the rate'of pay shall be increased by $0.05 per hour; such increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager." 734 SECTION 5. That Section 10-55 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and reordained shall hereafter read as follows; "Sec. 10-55. Floodwall department. (a) There„ is, hereby authorized and created the following- positions in the floodwall department, and. the salary -of each position shall be paid upon satis- factory completion of consecutive years of service, ,in this position, and upon recom- mendation of the City Manager: Position Floodwall foreman 6 mos. 1 year. SECTION 6. That Section 10-58 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and reordained shall hereafter read as follows: "Sec. 10-58. Police Department. The communica- tions clerk shall be under the supervision of the Chief of the Police Department. The communications clerk shall not thereby become a member of the Police Deaartment of the City. (c) Maintenance positions shall be paid at the base hourly rate for the first six months of employment, and at the expiration of six months the rate of pay shall be increased by $0.05 per hour, such increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager. (d) Janitor and laborer positions shall be paid at the hourly rate for the first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months there may be an in- crease of $0.05 per hour; at the expiration of one year there may be an additional increase of $0.05 per hour, and at the expiration of two years there may be an addi- tional increase of $0.05 per hour, such increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager. (3) The chief of the maintenance division may designate one employee in his department to act as a' lead -man or part-time working foreman to serve in such capacity at the direction of the chief of the maintenance division, or at such times as the chief of the maintenance division is on leave. The employee so designated shall be paid an additional $0.15 per hour during such times as the employee desig- nated actually serves in such capacity." 738 SECTION 9. That Section 10-63, Fire Department Switchboard Operator, and Clerk -typist, Civil Service, be created and ordained so that said section _s_hal I hereafter read as follows:.. "Sec. 10-63. Fire Department Switchboard Operator and -Clerk -typist. (a) The monthly rate of compensation for the position of civil service fire department switchboard „operator and clerk -typist in the Fire Mars halls -office shall be as follows, upon satisfactory completion of consecutive years of service, Effective 7-1-80 Effective 7-1-81 Switchboard opr. 4 871.00 958.00 in this position, and upon recommendation of the City Manager: (b) The duties of the switchboard operator shall be to operate the switchboard fire alarm equipment at the central fire station and perform all other necessary services and functions in connection therewith. The switchboard operator shall be under the supervision of the Chief of the Fire Department. The switchboard operator shall not thereby become a member of the Fire Department." SECTION 10. That Sections 12-24, 12-25, 12-26, 12-27 and 12-28 - Fire Prevention and Protection of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, are hereby repealed. SECTION 11. That Sections 25-15, 25-16, 25-17, 25-18 and 25-19 - Police, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, are hereby repealed. SECTION 12. This ordinance shall be introduced and after being read at two separate meetings, shall be effective upon publication.
