A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR
BIDS -FOR CONSTRUCTFON OF THE McGUIRE AREA STREET .IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, AND- PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UPON WHICH
SUCH CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE MADE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE -BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY
OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized
to advertise for bids for construction of the McGuire Area Street Improvement
Project in the City of Paducah, said invitation for bids to be as follows:
ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
RECEIPT OF PROPOSALS
The City of Paducah, Kentucky will receive bids for the construction
of the McGuire Area Street Improvement Project unti 12: 00 p . m . , on
the day of 1980, at the office of the City Manager,
City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at .which time all bids will be .publicly
opened, in the Commission Chamber of City Hall, and read aloud.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The project consists of street reconstruction including curb, gutter,
pavement, sidewalk, storm sewer and appurtenant facilities.
OBTAINING CONTRACT DOCUMENTS
Plans and specifications are on file at the office of the City Engineer,
City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky,' and at the office of the Associated
General Contractors, Paducah, Kentucky. Copies of plans and
specifications may be obtained at the office of the City Engineer. A
deposit of $50.00 will be required for each set of documents
obtained. The deposits of all those returning usable plans and
specifications within ten (10). days -after the-bid opening will be re-
funded in full. Those not returning the documents within this period
of time or returning unusable documents shall forfeit their full deposit.
PROPOSAL GUARANTY
A satisfactory Bid Bond executed by the bidder and acceptable
sureties in an amount equal to five percent (5 0) of the bid shal l
be submitted with each bid.
PERFORMANCE BOND AND LABOR AND MATERIAL BOND
The successful bidder will be required to furnish and pay for
satisfactory Performance Bond and Labor and Material Payment Bond -
each in the amount of one hundred percent (1000) of the Contract.
WAGE RATES
Attention is called to the fact that not less than the minimum salaries
and wages as set forth in the Contract Documents must be paid on
this project.
EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
The Contractor must ensure that employees and applicants for employ-
ment are not discriminated against because of their race, color,
religion, sex or national origin. Since Federal Housing and- Urban
Development (Community Development) Funds are being used for this
project, the Contractor must comply with all requirements of Section 3
of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968 and Executive Order
11246.

OUVNER'S RIGHTS RESERVED
The City of Paducah reserves the right to reject any or all bids or
waive any informalities in the bidding. No bid shall be withdrawn
for a period of sixty (60) days subsequent to the opening of bids
without the consent of the Gity of Paducah.

SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids by a
notice posted on the bulletin board at City Hall and by publication pursuant to
KRS Chapter 424. No bids shall be opened within ten days from the date on
which the resolution is adopted, and no bid shall be received after the hour
fixed for the opening of bids. All bids received by the City Manager up to the
time for opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may
let a contract to' the best responsible bidder: The City shall have the right
to refuse or reject any and all bids:
SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and
after the date of its adoption.
