AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF ALLAN RHODES FORD & HONDA
FOR SALE TO THE CITY OF A 1980 FORD THUNDERBIRD, FOR THE SUM OF
$6,533.00, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT AND
ACCEPTING THE DONATION BY MAYOR JOHN K. PENROD OF THE SUM OF $333.00,
TO THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, TO BE USED FOR THE PAYMENT OF THE
BALANCE OF THE AFORESAID PURCHASE PRICE.
WHEREAS, the City of Paducah on January 17, 1980, received automobile
bids as follows:
Sumner Olds, Inc . , - 1980 Cutlass Supreme, $6,615.97;_
Mullen Motor Company - 1980 Buick Century, $6,767.56;
Wilson Chevrolet -Cadillac, Inc. - 1980 Malibu Sport Coupe, $6,200.00;
Allan Rhodes Ford & Honda - 1980 Granada, $6,244.00 and a 1980 Thunder-
bird, $6,533.00.
WHEREAS, the subject automobile is to be for the use and benefit of the
Mayor's office and Mayor= John K. Penrod has personally examined each of the
models as submitted by the aforesaid bidders and has found that the 1980.Thunderbird
is the model that most nearly accommodates his needs; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioner of the City of Paducah; Kentucky,
are of the opinion that the 1980 Thunderbird will have a higher trade-in value
after the expected usageof the automobile by the City of Paducah, Kentucky, and
WHEREAS, in- order. for the City to obtain the aforesaid 1980 Thunderbird
at a price that is reasonably competitive with the other models that were submitted
for consideration, Mayor John K. Penrod has offered to donate to the City of
Paducah the cash sum of $333.00 to be applied to the purchase of the aforesaid
1980 Thunderbird to be ixsed by the Mayor's office; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah, Kentucky,
are of the opinion that as a result of the circumstances set forth above, it would be
in the best interest of the City that the bid of Allan Rhodes Ford & Honda be accepted
and also that the donation of Mayor John K. Penrod be accepted and applied to-
ward the purchase price.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City of Paducah, Kentucky, accept the bid of Allan
Rhodes Ford & Honda for sale to the City of Paducah of a 1980 Ford Thunderbird
for the sum of $6,533.00; said bid meeting or exceeding the requirements in the
advertisement for bids which were authorized by a resolution passed by the Board
of Commissioners on January 8, 1980, and as contained in the bid of Allan Rhodes
Ford & Honda, dated January 17, 1980.
SECTION 2. That the aforesaid automobile shall be for the use and benefit
of the Mayor's office and that by reason of the circumstances_ more particularly-
set
articularly-set forth above, the City of Paducah, Kentucky, accept the donation by Mayor, John K.
Penrod of the cash sum of $333.00 to be applied to the purchase price of the 1980
Thunderbird as bid by Allan Rhodes Ford & Honda.
SECTION 3. That the City Manager be, and he is_ hereby, authorized to
execute a contract with Allan Rhodes Ford & Honda for the purchase by the City of
Paducah of a 1980 Thunderbird according to the terms and conditions as more
particularly set forth above.
SECTION 4. The purchase price for said automobile shall be charged to
General Fund Account No. 1114.
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall be introduced and remain on file for
one week for public inspection in the completed form in which it shall be put upon
its final passage, and if adopted shall be in full force and effect ten (10) days
thereafter.
