HomeMy WebLinkAbout80-1-1854501 ORDINANCE NO. 80-1-1854 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE KENTUCKY DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, AND PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS FOR RECEIVING A GRANT FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION WHEREAS, tinder the Urban Mass Transportation Act of 1964, as amended, in which funds were authorized to carry out public transportation in nonurbanized areas; and WHEREAS, on September 18, 1979, the City of Paducah executed and filed with the Kentucky Department of Transportation, an application requesting federal financial participation, in the amount of $268,326.50, and with the Kentucky Depart- ment of Transportation in the amount of $27,885.00, and WHEREAS, the Kentucky Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration have reviewed said Application and have determined that the project is in accordance with the purpose of the Formula Grant Program for areas other than urbanized, and WHEREAS, the City desires to provide a program of public transportation, to include the purchase of vehicles and other equipment and to the operation and administration of public transportation services, in the City of Paducah. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the Mayor be, and he is hereby, authorized to execute an agreement with the Kentucky Department of Transportation for providing a public transportation service in the City of Paducah, Kentucky, according to the Agreement attached hereto and by reference incorporated herein. SECTION 2. An emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance shall therefore be introduced and remain on file for public inspection for at least one week in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage, and if adopted shall be in full force and effect immediately thereafter.
