HomeMy WebLinkAbout80-1-1840475 ORDINANCE NO. 80-1-1840 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE USE AND OPERATION OF COIN OPERATED AMUSEMENT MACHINES ON SUNDAY AFTERNOONS WHEREAS, KRS 436.160 sets forth a general prohibition which precludes the engagement or employment in occupations on Sundays, and WHEREAS, KRS 436.165 provides an exception to such prohibition, which exception authorizes the city legislative body to enact ordinances permitting retail sales and activities on Sundays within its jurisdictional boundaries, and WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah deems it appropriate to authorize and permit the engagement or employment in occupations on Sunday, which occupations pertain to the use and operation of coin operated amuse- ment machines, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. It shall be lawful for any person to hold out for public use and operation coin operated amusement machines on Sundays. Coin operated amusement machines shall be defined to include coin operated pin ball machines, video play machines, air hockey machines, billiard tables, foot ball machines and other coin operated amusement machines of a like nature. SECTION 2. Notwithstanding such authorization, no coin operated amuse- ment machine shall be held out for public use on Sunday between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect on .and after the date of its adoption.
