AN- ORDINANCE AMENDING" `SECTION 2=19 OF THE -CODE OF ORDINANCES
OF THE CIT 'OF--PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
WHEREAS, KRS 424.260 was amended by the 1978 Kentucky Acts to -
permit expenditures -by cities: -iri the amount of $5; 00:0 .-00 without- first '. makirng
newspaper advertisement for bids, and -

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD -'-OF, COMMISSIONERS -
OF THE CIT'OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
Section 1:: �:That-Section-2-19;`- "City Manager' -s =Bond". of ahe- Code. of
Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and: reordained ".so .that
said section shall- hereinafter read as follows:
Section 2-79.: City -Manager:'s•Authority for'Experiditures:- :Bond:`: c.
(a) ..'The city manager -shall be authorized to makea contract =
for materials, supplies or equipment or for contractual services,
enditure-,-ofup to and.including:-$200;0.00_ _without.involving-.an.'exp;.
first taking bids or solicitations or receiving prior approval of
the board of commissioners. Prior to making a -contract.:for ma- - -
terials, supplies or equipment or for contractual services in an
amount between:42_;001.'00 and $3,500:00;_ the -city, manager -shall -
first solicit "from a representative number of businesses or
firms. who ,re.gularly. deal in .such, items. and shall thereafter
have the quotes solicited communicated to the board of commis-
-sioner�s;::`who shall approve the. expenditure by. ordinance.: The
city manager shall not make a contract for materials, supplies or
equipment or contractual services.,, involving the expenditure of
between $3,501.00 to $5,000.00 without first making a newspaper
advertisement for bids and shall thereafter , have the _bids- communi
cated to the board of commissioners, who shall approve the expendi-
ture by ;,ordinance:..: All' purchases; made by'the city in eXcess .of
$5,000.00 shall be made in the manner prescribed by KRS 424.260,
provided, however, that nothing contained in this.- -see-tion.-shall
in any manner limit the authorization granted to the city manager
by State Statutes for emergency expenditures.
(b) The city manager shall execute an official bond to the
city,--in-the form and in the general terms of other official
bonds of the city, in the sum of twenty-five thousand dollars
($25,000.00) and conditioned upon the faithful performance of
his duties and'ithe :,faithful: accounting*. of- -all funds, coming -Anto-,
his hands and under his control.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect until
August 22, 1979, unless sooner modified, amended or repealed by action of
the Board of Commissioners.
