ORDINANCE NO. 78-5-1554
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT
WITH THE COMMONWEALTH OF KENTUCKY PROVIDING FOR A FLOOD DAMAGE ABATEMENT
PROJECT IN THE LITTLEVILLh,AREA, AND A=UTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF`
$29,400.00 AS THE CITY'S PORTION OF -THE PROJECT COST.
WHEREAS, --it has been determined that the Littleville area of the City of
Paducah is under the threat of flooding and flood damages; and
WHEREAS,', to alleviate `such flooding, the City requires the construction of
3,000 feet- to 6,000 feet of major drainage channels; 1200 feet to 1500 feet of medium to
shallow ditches; culverts and storm- sewers - in the area, and
WHEREAS, the City desires financial assistance from the Commonwealth
of Kentucky in' the construction'of-the flood damage -abatement project, and

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Kentucky wishes- to the assist the City
financially in constructing said flood damage abatement project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED 'BY- THE BOARD `OF COMMISSIONERS
OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, 'KENTUCKY: `
SECTION 1. That the Mayor be, and he is hereby, au h6r' ized and directed
to enter 'into a contract with the Commonwealth 'of Kentucky for the construction of a
flood abatement project in the Littleville area and in accordance with the terms and con-
ditions of the "Agreement for Flood Damage Abatement Project Administered by the Local
Government" as submitted by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby authorized the expenditure of the sum
of $29,400.00 as the City's portion of the aforesaid flood damage abatement project.
SECTION 3. This - ordinance shall 'be introduced and remain on file for
one week for public inspection in the completed' form in w -hick it shall be put upon its
final passage, and if adopted shall be in full force and effect ten (10) days thereafter.
