HomeMy WebLinkAboutBid Advertise-Limestone 833 A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF THE CITY'S REQUIREMENT OF LIMESTONE FOR THE' YEAR 1978 (APPROXIMATELY 2,000 TONS) TO USED IN STREET CONSTRUCTION BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE OF PADUCAlf," KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to advertise for bids for the City's requirement of lirriestorie for the year 1978 (approxi- `mately 2,000 tons) The quantity quoted is a preliminary estimate only arid'th'e City reserves-the-right to add to or delete from' same at it's discretion. Bid price -to be f.o.b-. to any in the city limits of -the City of Paducah', Kentucky, as specified by the Director of the Street Department. The limestone is to be delivered as ordered, by collect telephone call to the successful bidder or bidders, in 100 ton lots or more, and the successful bidder is to guarantee to start delivery within _twenty -four hours after notification and continue until the required amount has been delivered. The limestone must meet the specifications 'known and listed as "Kentucky Bureau of Highways Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction" for No. 2, No. 3, No. 610, No. 68, No. 78, No. 8, :No. 9M, No 11 DGA limestone and limestone rip rap The successful bidder may be required to -furnish representative samples of aiiy. and all items and all weights :delivered material must be 'certified from some accurate scales in or near the City of Paducah- at the expense of the successful bidder. All bids shall provide a -guarantee against advancein market ;price and shall guarantee a reduction in price in the event of 'a decrease in market The successful bidder shall post a performance bond in the sum of $1;000.00 'guaranteeing specifications and delivery SECTION' 2. The City Manager shall advertise for bids by a notice posted on the bulletin board at City-Hall and' by inserting' notice Of the request forbids in' the Sun Democrat to be' published as required by law All bids shall be sealed "and' no bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same All bids received by the Cityr u-p to the time -fired: for the -opening of bids' shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract: to the best responsible bidder or bidders, and the Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the City shall not become legally obligated to purchase said material until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a contract. 834 SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of its adoption.
