HomeMy WebLinkAboutBid Advertise-Fire Hose 1046 A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF FIRE HOSE TO BE USED IN THE PADUCAH FIRE DEPARTMENT AND PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to advertise for bids of the purchase of fire hose for use in the Paducah Fire Depart- ment and to have the following specifications: 2,000 feet of 22 inch hose (all hose to have Paducah Fire Depart- ment special threads on both couplings),. 2,000 feet of 11- inch hose with NST couplings. All couplings to be extruded aluminum. with three (3) rocker lugs on male and swivel. Couplings to be polished and had coated.. All hose to be doubled jacket cotton polyester, mildew inhibited with a minimum hydrostatic test pressure of 600 psi and shall be in compliance with the latest edition of "Standard for Fire Hose, National Fire Protection Association No. 196". In addition to those markings required by NFPA Standard No 196 the words Paducah Fire Department shall -be indelibly marked in letters at least one (1) inch high beginning at or near the center and reading from the female to the male end of the hose. Additional information may be obtained from the office of the Chief of the Paducah Fire Department SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for bids by a notice posted on the bulletin board at City Hall and by inserting notice of the request for bids in the Paducah Sun to be published as required by law. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids received by the City Manager up to the time fixed for the opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the best responsible bidder, and the Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the City shall- not become legally obligated to purchase said fire hose until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a contract. SECTION 3.
