AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT
TO AGREEMENT FOR A 2006 KENTUCKY TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT GRANT
REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM AWARD FROM THE KENTUCKY TRANSPORTATION
CABINET
WHEREAS, the City approved Ordinance No. 2006-10-7191 authorizing the Mayor to
execute a Grant Agreement with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet for a Transportation Enhancement
Grant Reimbursement Program Award up to an amount of $500,000 for the Greenway Trails Project
Phase I. This portion of the project is for the construction of the trail along the floodwall from Schultz
Park to the Brookport Bridge with a cash match in the amount of $140,000 from the bequest of the
Boyles Estate; and
WHEREAS, the City of Paducah has requested an extension of the grant termination
date due to the term of the repair work on the gravity feed corrugated metal drainage pipes beneath the
floodwall and the current environmental uncertainties surrounding the riverfront redevelopment; and
WHEREAS, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is willing to extend the termination
date on the award agreement for one year to November 15, 2010 and now requires an amendment to the
agreement.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute an Amendment to Agreement
for a 2006 Kentucky Transportation Enhancement Grant Reimbursement Program Award with the
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet for the Greenway Trails Project Phase I from November 15, 2009 to
November 15, 2010.
SECTION 2. Pursuant to KRS 83A.060, the City Commission suspends the requirement
of a second reading and publication of this Ordinance. As grounds therefore, the City Commission does
hereby declare an emergency to exist due to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet needing time to
process the Amendment Agreement prior to the November 15, 2009 expiration date.
SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, as provided by
law.
