AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE ALL
DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO OBTAIN A 2009 COPS HIRING RECOVERY
PROGRAM GRANT THROUGH THE AMERICAN RECOVERY AND
REINVESTMENT ACT OF 2009
WHEREAS, the City of Paducah applied to the COPS Hiring Recovery
Program adopted by Municipal Order No. 1448 on April 14, 2009, for hiring three police
officers for three years; and
WHEREAS, the COPS Hiring Recovery Program has approved the
application and is now ready to award this grant.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute all documents
necessary to obtain a 2009 COPS Hiring Recovery Program Grant through the American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 in the amount of $607,194 for the hiring of three
police officers for the City of Paducah in an effort to create and preserve jobs, and to
increase community policing and crime prevention efforts. This award will provide three
officers for three years beginning July 2009 through June 2012, with the City retaining
the officers for one additional year through June 2013.

SECTION 2. This expenditure shall be charged to 2009 COPS Hiring
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be read on two separate days and will
become effective upon summary publication pursuant to KRS Chapter 424.
