ORDINANCE NO. 78-12-1668
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 20-53, 20-54 AND 20-55 OF
ARTICLE III, VEHICLE LICENSE OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY
OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That section 20-53 of the Code of Ordinances be -amended
by adding thereto sub -section (4) of Section 20-53, which sub -section shall hereafter
read as follows:
"Sec. 20-53, Fee - Amount
(4) Any person acquiring a motor vehicle after the first day of
January shall pay the following pro rata portion of the applicable license tax when
City license is purchased:
10 - 12_ months prior to expiration date, of state license' _ 100% of license fee
7 - 9 months prior to expiration date of state license - 75% of license fee
4 - 6 months prior to expiration date of state license - 50% of license fee
1 - 3 months prior to expiration date of state license - 25% of license fee".
SECTION 2. That Section 20-54 of the Code of Ordinances be amended
and reordained so that said sections as amended and reordained shall hereafter
read as follows:
"Sec. 20-54, Same - payment.
Any person acquiring a motor vehicle, or commencing to operate a motor
vehicle on city streets by reason of employment or new residency in the city, for
which a license is required by this article, after the first day of January shall
pay a prorated annual license fee, which license shall bear the same expiration
date as his or her state vehicle license" .
SECTION 3. That Section 20-55, Same - collection: when payable of the
Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky be amended and reordained
so that said section as amended and reordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 20-55. Same - Collection: When Payable.
(a) The City Treasurer is authorized, empowered and directed to
collect the license tax provided for in paragraph (1) of section
20-53, which fee or tax shall be payable on or before December
31, in each year.
(b) The City Treasurer is authorized, empowered and directed to
collect the license tax provided for in paragraph (2) of section 20-53,
which fee or tax shall be payable on or before the last day -'in the
month of expiration.
(c) The City Treasurer is authorized, empowered and directed to
collect the license tax provided for in paragraph (3) of Section
20-53 which fee or tax shall be payable on or before the first
day of April in each year.

(d) The tax upon any vehicle acquired or operated after the date
mentioned in subsections, (a); (b) and (c) -of -this-section, -which-
ever date is applicable, in any calendar year, shall be due and
-payable at the- end of thirty -(30) days- from the-- date- --it -was - acquired" .
SECTION 4. That all other provisions of Section 20=53,- Fee--= Amount, of
the. Code of -Ordinances of the -City of Paducah, Kentucky be reaffirmed and re -
ordained.
:. SECTION 5. This -ordinance shall- be -in full force and effect from and
after January 1, 191-9. -
