HomeMy WebLinkAbout78-12-16571062 ORDINANCE NO. 78-12-1657 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2-30, COMPULSORY RETIREMENT AT AGE 65; EXCEPTIONS , OF CHAPTER II, ADMINISTRATION, OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That Section 2-30, Compulsory Retirement at Age 65; Exceptions, of Chapter II, Administration, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Knetucky, be amended and reordained so that said section `shall hereinafter read as follows: "See. 2-30. Compulsory retirement at age 70, exceptions. (a) Each employee of the City, upon reaching 70 years of age, shall be required to immediately retire from such employment. Such employment may, however, be extended from time to time by motion adopted by the Board of Com- missioners for periods not exceeding eighteen (18j months duration. (b) Nothing in this section shall be construed to compel any member of the police department or fire department, able to perform his assigned duties, to retire before completing at least twnety (20) years of such employment as pro- vided for by section 95.858 of the Kentucky Revised Statutes. (c) Nothing in this section shall be construed to compel any employee of the city who is properly and legally employed under civil service provided for in Chapter 90 of the Kentucky Revised Statutes and chapter 10 of this Code and other applicable ordinances, able to perform his assisgned duties, to retire before com- pleting employment necessary for full civil service pension benefits". SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of its adoption.
