HomeMy WebLinkAbout2009-8-7597ORDINANCE NO. 2009-8-7597 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH PIERCE MANUFACTURING COMPANY INC., FOR PURCHASE OF A NEW HEAVY-DUTY AERIAL LADDER TRUCK FOR USE BY THE PADUCAH FIRE DEPARTMENT WHEREAS, pursuant to Sec. 2-645 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, the Engineering and Public Work's Department received sealed bids on June 30, 2009, for a new heavy-duty aerial ladder truck, and; WHEREAS, pursuant to Sec. 2-651(2) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, all bids received were rejected in accordance with the specifications and it was determined that it was in the best interest of the City to not delay the purchase, and; WHEREAS, pursuant to Sec. 2-654(3) of the Code of ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, each bidder was notified of the City's intent to enter into competitive negotiations, and; WHEREAS, only one bidder agreed to enter into competitive negotiations and a revised bid was attained. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. The City of Paducah hereby approves a contract with Pierce Manufacturing Company, Inc., in the amount of $732,661.00, for purchase of a new heavy-duty aerial ladder truck with the option of the Pierce frontal impact protection included. However, Pierce Manufacturing Company, Inc., has proposed a deduction in the amount of $30,872.00 from the proposal price if the City makes a 100% prepayment for the ladder truck upon contract acceptance. If the 100% prepayment is approved, the price for the new ladder would then be $701,789.00. SECTION 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Pierce Manufacturing Company, Inc., in the amount of $701,789.00, for the purchase of a heavy-duty aerial ladder truck with frontal impact protection included, as authorized in Section 1 above, according to the specifications, bid proposal, and all contract documents heretofore approved and incorporated in the bid. SECTION 3. This purchase shall be charged to Fleet — Fire Truck account. SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be read on two separate days and will become effective upon summary publication pursuant to KRS Chapter 424. A TEST: Tammara S.
