HomeMy WebLinkAboutUDAG Grant382 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO PREPARE AND SUBMIT A UDAG GRANT APPLICATION TO -ACQUIRE ADDITIONAL PROPERTY TO BUILD A MALL IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE .CONVENTION HOTEL SITE AND ASSURE THE DEVELOPER OF THE CONVENTION HOTEL THAT THE CITY OF PADUCAH WILL CO- OPERATE IN BUILDING A PARKING FACILITY IF "NECESSARY, AND .AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO INVESTIGATE AND IMPLEMENT THE FORMATION OF A DOWNTOWN 1 ;~ BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT COUNCIL WHEREAS , the City of` Paducah is developing 'a convention center and hotel complex, and WHEREAS , Bob Green , primary developer of the Executive Inn in Vincennes , Indiana , and the ~ Executive Inn in Evansville , Indiana and the Executive. 'Inn Rivermont , Owensboro, Kentucky, has expressed ' a strong desire of developing an Executive Inn in conjunction with the convention center, and WHEREAS , after. careful consideration the Board of Commissioners of the' City of Paducah is: convinced` that Sob Green or an entity owned and operated by him , would be the best ~ developer for the convention 'center hotel project , and WHEREAS , Mr .. Green has requested commitments from the Board of Coin- missioners of the City of Paducah prior to his making a formal announcement on developing the hotel convention center complex. NOW, THEREFORE,:. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD 'OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. -That the Mayor be; and he is hereby,. authorized ~o prep~°re and submit a `UDAG grant application toacquire additional property° ~to build a shopping mall in close proximity to the convention hotel site . SECTION 2. It is further resolved that the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah will cooperate with Bob Green or with an. entity owned and operated by him, in the building of a parking facility, if, such facility is required. SECTION 3. It is further resolved that the Mayor is authorized to institute the necessary steps for the development of a Downtown Business District Development Council with membership to consist of local government representatives ; representatives of local Chamber of Commerces along ~!vth-business representatives , .representing local financial institutions , merchants , property owners , and miniority interest . SECTION 4. Be it further resolved that the Board of Commissioners will allocate a sum of money up to $35,000 toward the first year funding of said Council, provided that adequate additional commitments are made by the Fiscal Court of McCracken County and the business community, and further provided that the entire business and retail community is allowed to expand by the removal of the 383 for .
