AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AN DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK
TO ENTER -INTO.... A. LEASE WITH THE -FIRST BAPTIST--CHURCHOF PADUCAH, FOR THE
RIGHT- TO- CON$TRUC-T ,A.. CANOPY-,, OR OVERHANG, --OVER THE. -SIDEWALK AREA
ADJOINING THE CHURCH BUILDING, KNOWN,,AS, FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF PADUCAH,
LOCATED AT .THE INTERSECTION .OF_-KEILER,;STREET AND -;BROADWAY.; PADUCAH,
KENTUCKY.
BE IT. ORDAINED BY THE BOARD .OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION ,1. . That the Mayor -and. City -.Clerk be, and they are hereby
authorized and directed to enter into a lease with. First Baptist Church of Paducah,
to ;construct a ,.canopy, or overhang, over the, sidewalk area adjoining..the Church
building known . as - First Baptist Church of Paducah, .located at the intersection of
Keiler Street, and. Broadway,.. Paducah, -Kentucky, for ,.an indefinite -term,- and shall
be subject to cancellation and termination- by .the,. City --of Paducah at any time, upon
thirty, (30) days written -notice -of . the. cancellation.
SECTION 2. The .First Baptist. Church .of Paducah. shall: construct said
canopy, or overhang, so as not to endanger the general public in. any -way, or
create a . hazard or obstruct the sidewalk as to interfere.. with the normal and ade-
quate -passageway_ of the public.'. All construction shall provide, .for the safety , , con-
sideration,. and wellbeing of the. -general public.
SECTION-,3.First Baptist .Church,. of- Paducah -shall hold the. City of
Paducah free _ and clear of. any and all liability- to -the general- public as; a ..result of -
any injuries or accidents caused to the -person or, property by the granting of. this
lease-. .First Baptist Church of, Paducah .shall maintain adequate- and sufficient
liability., insurance against any loss or damage arising out of the lease, agreement and
the terms thereof .
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after the date of its adoption.
