AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A
CONTRACT AND ALL OTHER DOCUMENTS RELATING TO SAME, BETWEEN
THE CITY OF PADUCAH AND AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY,
AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES, AFL-CIO, LOCAL 1586
WHEREAS, the City and the American Federation of State, County, and
Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO, Local 1586, (AFSCME) entered into a contract
concerning wage rates and other conditions of employment; and
WHEREAS, the duration of said contract is from July 1, 2009 through
June 30, 2012; and

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute a contract
and all other documents relating to same, between the City of Paducah and American
Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO, Local 1586,
(AFSCME).
SECTION 2. Pursuant to KRS 83A.060, the City Commission suspends
the requirement of a second reading and publication of this Ordinance. As grounds
therefore, the City Commission does hereby declare an emergency to exist since the
contract has expired and cancellation of the last Commission Meeting prevented the City
from adopting the ordinance for ratification on the schedule originally planned.
SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall become effective upon the first reading
of this Ordinance.
