HomeMy WebLinkAbout79-3-1696ORDINANCE NO. 79-3-1696 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 12-19 "NUMBER, RANK AND SALARIES OF MEMBERS" OF ARTICLE II "FIRE DEPARTMENT" OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH , KENTUCKY BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That Section 12-19 "Number, rank and salaries of members", of Article II "Fire Department" of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that same as amended and reordained shall hereafter read as follows: "Sec. 12-19 Number, rank and salaries of members. (g)- Captains shall be paid- at the --following listed rates upon satisfactory completion of consecutive years of service with the City: Base Hourly Salary Years Effective 7-3-78 Effective 7-2-79 14 4.15 4.57 17 4.17 4.59 20 4.19 4.61 25 4.21 4.63 (h) Lieutenants shall be paid at the following listed rates upon satisfactory completion of consecutive years of service with the City: Base Hourly Rate Years Effective -7-3-78 Effective 7-2-79 11 _ . 3.84 - :.- 4.22 14 3.86 4.24 17 3:88 -4.26 95 (i) Firefighters shall be paid at the following listed rates upon satisfactory completion of consecutive years of service with the City: Base Hourly Rate Years Effective 773-78 Effective 7-2-79 1/2 3.25,,. 3.58 1 3.34 3.68 3: 3.45 3.80 5 3.48 3.83 g 3.51...... 3.8.6- 1 3.54 3.89 (j) All members of the fire department assigned to a platoon and working shifts of 24 hours on duty and 48 hours off duty, exclusive of the assistant chiefs, shall be paid a supplementary expense allowance for uniforms and for food purchased for use while on duty at the fire station in an amount not exceeding $480.00 per year. One hundred twenty dollars ($120.00) of the sum shall be used exclusively for the purchase of unifroms and $360.00 per year may be used for food expenses. Expenses shall be reimbursable only upon submission of a sworn voucher by each member eligible for the expense allowance. The uniform portion of the expense allowance may be used at any time during the calendar year but shall not be carried over from year to year. Reimbursement shall be made on receipt of the voucher with supporting bills for uniforms at any time a member has expended the sum of $120.00 or if a lesser amount is expended, at the end of the calendar year. The maximum allowable portion for food shall be $30.00 per month, and such sums shall not be carried over from month to month if they remain unused. Expenses for food allowances shall be payable quarterly on submission of proper documentation. All new employees shall be entitled to a uniform allowance in the first year of their employment at the rate of $10.00 per month. For purposes of calculating a month, full credit shall be given for fifteen (15) calendar days or more. (k) In the event a member of the fire department acts in a position of responsibility higher than the position the member holds, and provided the period of responsibility is in excess of six hours during any work shift, the member shall be compensated as follows: Captain acting as assistant chief, $7.00; lieutenant acting as captain, $6.00; firefighter acting as lieutenant, $5.00. Such compensation shall be paid for any condition creating an absence within a position for which the acting officers are required to serve, including vacancy within the position, illness, vacations and holiday times, acting in another position, or temporary additional assignments. Such compensation shall not be paid for assignments resulting from members taking accumulated time, operating on work -back -pro- visions, attending schools or seminars, or for any other reason than stated above. 96 Acting pay shall be accounted for by the assistant fire chiefs and payment shall be made quarterly on March 31, June 30, September 30 and December 31. Acting pay shall be subject to all payroll deductions. (1) Captains, lieutenants and firefighters shall be paid the aforesaid hourly rates during' each weekly period beginning on Monday and ending on Sunday for the first forty (40)_ hours of duty, and at one and one-half times said hourly rates for each duty, hour in excess of forty (40) . (m) A firefighter who is regularly assigned as a relief driver by the chief of the Paducah Fire Department, after approval by the City Manager, shall for such assignment receive additional compensation in an amount not to exceed $0.04 per hour". SECTION 2. This ordinance amends an ordinance originally adopted on December 11, 1951 and last amended by Ordinance No. 78-7-1586. SECTION 3.
