HomeMy WebLinkAbout83-9-2428670 ORDINANCE NO. 83-9-2428 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE A LEASE WITH WHITEHAVEN ASSOCIATION, INC., FOR USE OF CERTAIN CITY PROPERTY DURING THE TVA VALLEY ADVENTURE TOUR, AND AUTHORIZING TEMPORARY CLOSING OF STREETS FOR USE BY WHITEHAVEN ASSOCIATION, INC., FROM SEP- TEMBER 22 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 26, 1983 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to execute a lease by and between the City of Paducah, Kentucky and Whitehaven Association, Inc., for the use of that property east of the floodwall and between the south line of Jefferson Street, if extended, and the north line of Kentucky Avenue, to be used from September 22 through September 26, 1983. The lease shall make provision that the Lessee save the City harmless under any and all conditions, that the consideration be for the sum of $1.00, that the Lessee shall have the right to sublease the property for such purposes and activities as it sees fit, and that the Lessee shall return the property to the City at the expiration of the lease in a clean and neat condition. SECTION 2. The Chief of Police is hereby authorized and empowered to close to vehicular traffic all roadways from the floodwall to the water's edge at and between the entrances on Broadway and Kentucky Avenue, and the City hereby temporarily closes from free public access and use all that area of land belonging to the City of Paducah and lying east of the floodwall and south of the south line of Jefferson Street, if extended, and north of the south line of Kentucky Avenue, said temporary closings to be from 12:01 a.m. on September 22, 1983 through 12:00 p.m. on September 26, 1983. SECTION 3. Due to the scheduling of TVA Valley Adventure, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be effective upon its passage at one reading. John K.
