HomeMy WebLinkAbout2009-7-7578ORDINANCE NO. 2009-7-7578 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A GRANT AGREEMENT AND ALL DOCUMENTS RELATING THERETO WITH THE KENTUCKY ENVIRONMENTAL AND PUBLIC PROTECTION CABINET, DIVISION OF WASTE MANAGEMENT, FOR A 2009 KENTUCKY RECYCLING GRANT FOR FUNDING OF THE VOLUNTEER -OPERATED RECYCLING DROP OFF CENTER WHEREAS, the City of Paducah applied for a Kentucky Recycling Grant through the Kentucky Environmental and Public Protection Cabinet, Division of Waste Management, adopted by Municipal Order No. 1442 on March 24, 2009, to be used for funding of the volunteer -operated recycling drop off center; and WHEREAS, the Kentucky Environmental and Public Protection Cabinet, Division of Waste Management, has approved the application and is now ready to award this grant. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute all documents necessary with the Kentucky Environmental and Public Protection Cabinet, Division of Waste Management, for a 2009 Kentucky Recycling Grant in the amount of $54,736 for the purchase of equipment, advertising, and education. A local match of $18,245 is required with the City of Paducah and County of McCracken contributing $7,500 each. The Jackson Purchase Resource Conservation and Development Foundation will supply the remaining match amount through in- kind contributions. This project totals $72,981. SECTION 2. The City of Paducah hereby accepts and agrees to administer the funds in an amount up to $54,736 as approved in Section 1 above. SECTION 3. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute an Interlocal Agreement between the City of Paducah and McCracken County to act as the legal recipient and fiscal agent for the Recycling Grant funds. SECTION 4. This expenditure shall be charged to PF0067. SECTION 5. Pursuant to KRS 83A.060, the City Commission suspends the requirement of a second reading and publication of this Ordinance. As grounds therefore, the City Commission does hereby declare an emergency to exist in order to meet the grant submission deadline of July 17, 2009. 1; S. 'k Tammara S.
