HomeMy WebLinkAbout85-6-2692333 ORDINANCE NO. 85-6-2692 AN ORDINANCE APPROVING PAYMENT OF $51,490.05, PLUS PENSION CONTRIBUTIONS, TO EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH FOR OVERTIME COMPENSATION WHEREAS, prior to July 1, 1984, the City of Paducah allowed members of the Police Department to take "comp time" instead of paying said employees overtime; and WHEREAS, the Kentucky Department of Labor has determined that said practice was in conflict with the Kentucky Revised Statutes; and WHEREAS, the Kentucky Department of Labor has determined that various employees are entitled to compensation for overtime work for the City of Paducah; and WHEREAS, it is the intent of the City of Paducah to resolve this matter as expeditiously as possible. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the findings of the Kentucky Department of Labor, Division of Employment Standards and Mediation, reflecting wages due present and former members of the Paducah Police Department, as reflected on sheets number 1 through 16, attached hereto and made a part hereof as if set out in full, are accepted as a proposed settlement with the individuals named thereon. SECTION 2. That the City Treasurer is authorized to issue checks to employees individually as a final settlement on all overtime wages prior to July 1, 1984. Said checks are conditioned upon acceptance by said employees as complete and final settlement as provided for by the rules of the Kentucky Department of Labor. SECTION 3. The City accepts the above as a compromise and not as an admission that said monies are actually owed. SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be read on two separate days and will become effective upon publication of title and a certified summary thereof.
