HomeMy WebLinkAbout86-11-2937My, ORDINANCE NO. 86 -1193 -5 - AN ORDINANCE CREATING SECTION 10-80.5, CIVIL SERVICE, OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY WHEREAS, the City of Paducah has enrolled most current employees of the City who are under civil service into the Kentucky County Employees Retirement System; and WHEREAS, only one active employee of the City is a member of the Appointive Employees' Pension Fund; and WHEREAS, the benefits provided for under the Appointive Employees' Pension Fund have not been adjusted for a long period of time and are inadequate; and WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners has performed a study of the Appointive Employees' Pension Fund and finds that it is of sufficient size to allow an increase in benefits, particularly to those persons receiving less than $200.00 per month. follow: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. Section 10-80.5, Adjustments of Pensions, is hereby created to read as "Effective January 1, 1987, all persons receiving a pension under Sections 10-79 or 10-80 shall receive a one-time increase of ten percent (10%) in the amount of their pensions. Sections 10-79 and 10-80 notwithstanding, a minimum pension of $200.00 per month is hereby, established for all retired members and widows of retired members." SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be read on two separate days and will become effective upon publication of title and a certified summary thereof.
