Piers & Gresham Houglc' Riverport Authority Henry Hodges Leave of Abs File bids on Tires At a regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber in the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on September 8, 1970, Mayor Cherry presided and upon call of the Roll the following -answered to their names: Commissioner Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5). Mayor Cherry offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for August 25, 1970 be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting prepared by the City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5). Mayor Cherry offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Fisher, that the resignati of Rev. Francis Howard as a member of the Commission on Human Rights be received, filed and accepted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commiss.ioners_.Fisher,.Harvey, ornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5). Mayor Cherry made the following appointment: It appearing that a vacancy now exists on the Human Rights Commission, I hereby appoint Rev. Robert Garlich as a member of said Commission for a term of one year. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5). Mayor Cherry made the following appointments: It appearing that the term of office of J. S. Piers as a member of the Paducah - McCracken County Riverport Authority expired on September 26, 1969, and the term of Gresham Hougland will expire on September 26, 1970, subject to the approval of the Board of Commissioners, I hereby reappoint J. S. Piers for a further term of four years from September 26, 1969, and reappoint Gresham Hougland for a term of four years from September 26, 1970, so that same shall be composed of the following: Jerry Page whose term expires on September 26, 1971 J. S. Piers whose term expires on September 26, 1973_, Gresham Hougland whose term expires September`26, 1974 Commissioner Harvey offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Fisher, that the rd of Commissioners approve the action of Mayor Robert C. Cherry reappointing J. S. Piers and Gresham Hougland as members of the Paducah -McCracken County Riverport Authority. Commissioner Fisher offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Harvey, that Henry Hodges, an equipment operator in the Public Works Department of the City of Paducah, be Pury granted a leave of absence without pay Brom January 11 to but not incldding March 15, 197.. Commissioner Fisher offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Harvey, that upon recommendation of the City Manager the following personnel changes be made: 1. The resignation of Bobby Cargill, switchboard operator in the Fire Department, be accepted effective September 15, 1970. 2. Harry M. Morris be employed as switchboard operator in the Fire Department, effective September 16, 1970, at a salary of $435.00 per month. 3. The resignation cf Sharon Marie Harped, clerk -typist in the Fina-nce Office, effective August 31, 1970, be accepted. 4. Ruble Crane be employed as Tire Repairman in the Refuse Division of the Public Works-Department,—effective September 8, 1970, at a salary ,of $2.68 per hour. 5. John Jackson, an Applicant -Candidate in the Fire Department, has satisfactorily completed the 60 day training period as such Applicant -Candidate as provided by ordinance, he is hereby appointed a fireman in the Fire Department, at a --salary of $490.00 per month, retroactive to September 1, 1970. 6. William Manley, laborer in the Street Division of the Public Works Department, be promoted to truck driver in said Division, effective September 16, 1970, at a salary of $2.48 per hour. Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that the bid of Belmont Equipment Co., Inc. for the sale to the City of two Cushman Refuse vehicles, be received and filed. Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, as foll I move that the following bids on three police cars be received and filed: Allan Rhodes, Inc.
