Mayor Cherry offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Harvey, that the executed copies of the Notice of Called Meeting to be held at 5:00 p.m., on June 3, 1970, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (4). Commissioner Harvey offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that the claim of Paducah Newspapers, Inc., in the amount of $122.87 for damage to its vehicle on May 28, 1970, at 3229 Jefferson Street when it was struck by city police cruiser driven by Charles W. Weitfaul, be allowed, and that the City Treasurer be authorized to pay said claim after first obtaining a complete and final release. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (4). / Commissioner Harvey offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that upon recommendation of the City Manager the following personnel changes be made: 1. James Dale Humphrey be employed as a temporary laborer in the Floodwall Department, at a salary of $2.00 per hour, retroactive to -'June 1, 1970. 2.. The following persons be employed as_ seasonal laborers in the Cemetery Department, at a salary of $2.00 per hour, retroactive to June 1, 1970: Michael D. Shields Augustus Thomas Michael L. Starks Richard Leon- Harriford Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners'Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (4) . Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, Seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that the claim of Wanda Patterson for damages to her 1968 Chevelle in the amount of $29.85 caused by Department of Public Works gravel spreader on South 4th Street on May 22, 197 be allowed, and that the City Treasurer be authorized to pay same after first obtaining a complete and final release. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners �Iarvey Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (4) . Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that the letter from South Central Bell Telephone Company to Chief Tommy Rothrock of the Paducah Fire Department,.dated August 18, 1969, submitting a proposal for emergency fire reporting telephone service for the City of Paducah, be received and filed. A opted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Che Mayor Cherry offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that the Mayor advise the County Fiscal Court that the City will participate with the County Governmen on a fifty fifty basis for the acquisition of right-of-way and improvement of street a relocation of utilities for the improvement of Friedman Lane. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Harvey, Hornsby and Mayor Cherry (3), Commissioner Puryear voted "No". Accept bid Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that an Wilson Chev. SALE TO THE CITY OF ONE (1) NEW 1970 STATION WAGON FOR USE IN THE INSPECTION DEPARTMENT, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR SUCH PURCHASE", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (4) . Apportionmen Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that an Ordinance 1970 ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE APPORTIONMENT OF THE PUBLIC FUNDS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, FOR THE YEAR 1970 AND APPROPRIATING THE PUBLIC REVENUE AND INCOME OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH FOR SUCH PURPOSES", be adopted. Adopted on call of the I Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Harvey, Hornsby and Puryear (3), Mayor Cherry voted "No". Amend ordinac Mayor Cherry offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Harvey, that an ordinance Refuse Con- tainers entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 27-5 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (4). On motion the meeting adjourned. Tapp,/ Floodwall V terminate Terminate Augustus Thomas Cemetery June 9, 1970 At a regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber..'. -in the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on June 9, 1970, Mayor Cherry presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5). Mayor Cherry offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Harvey, that the reading of the Minutes for May 26, 28 and June 3, 1970, be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting prepared by the City Clerk be approved as written. Mayor Cherry made the following appointment: The terms of office of Mary Yeiser and Lionel Minnen as members of the Board of Trustees of Carnegie Public Library will expire on June 14, 1970, I hereby reappoint the said Mary Yeiser and Lionel Minnen- for further terms of four (4) years each, so that said Board shall be composed of the following: Wilds W. Olive whose term expires June 14, 1971 George, Crounse whose term expires June 14, 1972 Jack Rottgering whose term expires June 14, 1972 Mary Yeiser whose -term expires June_ 14,, 1974 Lionel Minnen whose term expires June 14,- 1974 Commissioner Harvey offered motion;:;: seconded by Commissioner Fisher,'that the claim of Mrs. Brownie Nichol in the amount of $75.50 for damage caused to her 1966 Oldsmobile when it collided with a city refuse truck driven by James E. Stevens as it pulled away from a curb on North 13th Street between Harrison Street and Clay Street on June 2, 1970, be allowed, and that the City Treasurer be authorized to pay same after first obtaining a complete and full release. Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that the executed copy of the Contract between the City of Paducah and West Kentucky Equipment Company for sale to the City of a Case Model D580 combination Backhoe and Endloader, be received and filed. Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that on recommendation of the City Manager the following personnel changes be made: 1. The resignation of John Summers, patrolman in the Police Department, be accepted, effective June -18, 1970. 2. John W. Harris be employed as a seasonal laborer in the Cemetery Department, at a salary of $2.00 per hour, retroactive to June 8, 1970. 3. Larry E. Rogers be employed temporarily as a supervisor for'Federal Program temporary employees ifn_,the, S-treet Division of -the Public Works Department, at a salary of $3.00 per hour, retroactive`to June 2, 1970. 4. James R. Tapp, temporary pump operator in the Floodwall Department, be terminated, effective May 15, 1970. 5. Augustus Thomas, seasonal laborer in the Cemetery Department, be terminated, effective June 5, 1970. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor_Cherry (5). Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that the it Board.of Commissioners approve the sale by the City of Paducah to Hamock Funeral Home of the Northwest corner of Lot No. 341 in Block No. 6 of the Rushing Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery, and that the City Clerk be authorized to -execute a deed,of conveyance to said cemetery grave. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear (4), Mayor Cherry voted "No". Commissioner Harvey offered motion,, seconded by Commissioner Fisher, that 7 an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TI ENTER,INTO A CONTRACT WITH SOUTH CENTRAL BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY FOR FURNISHING TO THE CITY AN EMERGENCY FIRE REPORTING TELEPHONE SYSTEM, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH CONTRACT SHALL BE MADE", be introduced a-nd remain on file for at least one (1) week for public inspection in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage.
