HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/08/75Proceedings of Roard of CommieSlA 3 -ars City of Paducah July 8 At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber in the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7: 30 p. m. , on July 8, 1975 , Mayor Protem Puryear presided in the absence of Mayor McNutt, and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Brumley, Coleman and Mayor Protem Puryear (3) , Mayor McNutt and Commissioner Hornsby were absent (2) . Mayor Protem Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that the reading of the Minutes for June 24 and July 1, 1975 be waived and that the Minutes of said meetings prepared by the City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman and Mayor Protem Puryear (3) . Commissioner Coleman offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Brumley, that the petition signed by J. M. Looney, 1117 Robinwood Drive, and other residents in the area, requesting the City to eliminate a nuisance that exists on Minnich Avenue, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley , Coleman and Mayor Protem Puryear (3) . Commissioner Brumley offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Coleman, that Exonerations as prepared and delivered by the City Treasurer numbered 23325 through 23620 be received and filed, and that the amounts of same totaling $9,604.04 be exonerated on the tax bills shown and designated by said exonerations. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman and Mayor Protem Puryear (3) . Commissioner Brumley offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Coleman, as follows: I move that the Board of Commissioners approve the transfer of Lot No. 72 in Block No. 2 in Oak Grove Cemetery, from T. M. Miller and wife, Lela Miller to Louie Brown and wife, Elsie Brown, said lot is located on the north side of Ford Avenue between Baker Street and Miller Street. I further move that the City Clerk be authorized to make the proper transfer on the Cemetery Register. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman and Mayor Protem Puryear (3) . Commissioner Coleman offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Brumley, that a copy of the letter from Andrew S. Wood, Chairman of the Paducah Planning Commission regarding the advisability of amending the Zoning Ordinance by repealing Section 53.07 "Public Parking Area", be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman and Mayor Protem Puryear (3) . Commissioner Coleman offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Brumley, that upon recommendation of the City Manager, the following personnel changes be made: 1. Torie Vandeven, recreation leader in the Parks and Recreation Department, be terminated, retroactive to July 7, 1975. 2. Jennifer A. Walker, basketroom attendant in the Parks and Recreation Department, be reclassified as ticketseller , at a salary of $1.85 per hour , retroactive to June 19, 1975 . Jeffords No. 3. David Wrinkle be employed as lifeguard in the Parks and Recreation Department at a salary of $1.75 per hour, retroactive to July 2, 1975. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman and Mayor Protem Puryear (3) . Mayor Protem Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Brumley, that the claim of Leslie McClure in the amount of $128.30 for damages to his 1971 Ford truck caused when struck by a City Refuse Department vehicle being operated by Sylvester Orr, on June 11, 1975, on the Lone Oak Road at Jackson Street, be approved, and that the City Treasurer be authorized to pay said claim after first obtaining a complete and final release. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman and Mayor Protem Puryear (3) . Mayor Protem Puryear offered motion seconded by Commissioner Brumley, that a resolution entitled "A RESOLUTION ADOPTING AND APPROVING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE INCORPORATED AREA OF PADUCAH LOCATED IN McCRACKEN COUNTY AND THE BUREAU OF HIGHWAYS, COMMONWEALTH OF KENTUCKY, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 19 1975, AS PROVIDED IN THE KENTUCKY REVISED STATUTES AND ACCEPTING ALL STREETS LISTED THEREIN AS BEING STREETS WHICH ARE A PART OF THE INCORPORATED AREA OF PADUCAH" be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman and Mayor Protem Puryear (3) . Commissioner Brumley offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Coleman, that an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE FINAL REPORT OF THE PADUCAH PLANNING COMMISSION RESPECTING THE AMENDMENT OF A PORTION OF SECTION 51 OF THE PADUCAH ZONING ORDINANCE -1971, AND AMENDING SAID ORDINANCE", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman and Mayor Protem Puryear (3) . The next business to come before the Board of Commissioners was the hearing on the grievance of David B . Jeffords, which grievance was appealed to the City Commission on June 10, 1975. After hearing testimony in behalf of the Grievent and in behalf of the City of Paducah, the Board entered the following ruling. "The grievance of David B. Jeffords having been filed on June 10, 1975, and having been heard before the Board of Commissioners at its meeting on July 8, 1975 upon testimony in behalf of the Grievent and in behalf of the City of Paducah, And the Board of Commissioners being sufficiently advised in the matter, does hereby enter the following ruling. The grievance of David B. Jeffords filed June 10, 1975 is hereby sustained, in part, and his rate of pay shall be increased by $0.05 per hour, pursuant to Section 10-52(d), effective July 7, 1975."
