HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/24/75Proceedings of Board of Commissioners City of Paducah At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber in the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7: 30 p.m., on June 24, 1975, Mayor McNutt presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) . Mayor McNutt offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby,, that the reading of the Minutes for June 10th and 17th, 1975 be waived and that the Minutes of said meetings prepared by the City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll , Yeas , Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) . Mayor McNutt made the following appointment: Judge Raymond C. Schultz having appointed Thomas W. Wilson a member of the Kentucky Historical Events Celebration Commission Paducah -McCracken County Bicentennial Committee, I hereby appoint the said Thomas W. Wilson the Chairman of said Committee. Commissioner Coleman offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Brumley that a copy of a Quit Claim Deed, dated June 18, 1975, from Lydia C. Burnett Shields of Memphis, Tennessee, conveying to Frances Burnett all of the right, title and interest she acquired by and through the Last Will and Testament of William L. Burnett, her former husband, in and to Lots Nos. 10, 11 and 12 in Section 49 of Oak Grove Cemetery, be received and filed. He further moved that the City Clerk be authorized to make the proper notation on the Cemetery Register. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) . Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that upon recommendation of the City Manager the following personnel changes be made: 1. The following persons be employed as applicant -candidates in the Paducah Fire Department,, effective July 7, 1975, at a salary of $395.00 p.er m o. provided by such time they furnish at their expense, a satisfactory medical report as to their physical condition, including an electrocardiogram and back X-rays: Thomas Morris Roberts at 6: 30 a.m. Michael Boyd Qualls at 6: 35 a.m. Ronald Eugene Hyatte at 6: 40 a.m. Edwin C. George, Jr. at 6: 45 a.m. 2. David Leon Drew be employed as temporary laborer in the Cemetery Department,, at a salary of $2.10 per hour, retroactive to June 18, 1975. 3. Paul David Young be employed as lifeguard in the Parks and Recreation Department, at a salary of $1.75 per hour, retroactive to June 20, 1975. 4. Jimmie L. Irvan be employed as truck driver in the Street Department, at a salary of $3.46 per hour, retroactive to June 23, 1975. 5. The following be employed as temporary truck drivers in the Parks and Recreation Department, at a salary of $2.25 per hour, retroactive to June 23, 1975: Harry Lee Crawford Tyler C. Commissioner Brumley offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Coleman, that a resolution entitled "A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR A 36 INCH CHAIN LINK FENCE TO BE ERECTED AROUND NOBLE PARK LAKE, AND PRESCRIBING THE MANNER IN WHICH BIDS SHALL BE SUBMITTED", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) . Commissioner Coleman offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Brumley, that a resolution entitled "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PADUCAH , KENTUCKY AND THE ILLINOIS CENTRAL GULF RAILROAD COMPANY IN CONNECTION WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE PROPOSED LITTLEVILLE ACCESS ROAD", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) . Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that a resolution entitled "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING, ADOPTING, APPROVING,, ACCEPTING AND RATIFYING THE EXECUTION OF GRANT AGREEMENT FOR PROJECT NO. 8-21-0043-06 BETWEEN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND CITY OF PADUCAH AND COUNTY OF McCRACKEN , KENTUCKY" , be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman,, Hornsby. Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) . Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT, NOT TO EXCEED $2 9,500. 00, WITH ACTON RILEY FOR THE REMOVAL OF DEAD TREES AND DEBRIS FROM OAK GROVE CEMETERY" , be introduced and remain on file for one week for public inspection in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage.
