Sturgis to Golf Commission File petitions "No parkin on grass signs" in Noble Park, etc. File contract with National Utility Products Co. - adjustable manhole rings No. April 29, 1975 At a Called Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber in the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky,, at 4:30 p.m., on April 29, 19 75 , Mayor McNutt presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Brumley, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (4) , Commissioner Coleman was absent. Mayor McNutt offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that the executed copies of the Notice of Called Meeting to be held at 4: 30 p.m. on April 29, 1975, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (4) . Mayor McNutt made the following appointments: The term of office of Keith Bryant as a member of the Paducah Golf Commission having expired, and Thomas E. Lambert having resigned as a member of said Commission, I hereby, subject to the approval of the Board of Commissioners, appoint William B. Sturgis for a term of four years from March 26 , 1975 , and appoint James B. Mitchell to fill the unexpired term of Thomas E. Lambert, so that said Commission shall be composed of the following members: Harry Bolser whose term expires March 26, 1976 Frank Paxton whose term expires March 26, 1977 Glenn Schrader whose term expires March 26, 1978 James B. Mitchell whose term expires March 26, 1978, William B. Sturgis whose term expires March 26, 1979, Commissioner Brumley offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that the action of Alice H. McNutt, Mayor, appointing William B. Sturgis and James B. Mitchell as members of the Paducah Golf Commission, be approved. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (4) . Commissioner Brumley offered motion, secnnded by Commissioner Hornsby,, that the Board of Commissioners receive and file petitions signed by residents of the City of Paducah, McCracken County and other cities and towns near Paducah, protesting Sections 14-78 through 14-81 of the Code of Ordinances pertaining to congregating and cruising; requesting removal of "No parking on the grass" signs in Noble Park; and requesting that the City provide places for young people to go,, etc. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (4) . Commissioner Brumley offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that the executed copy of the Contract between the City of Paducah and National Utility Products Company for sale to the City of 135 adjustable manhole rings to be used in street resurfacing, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (4) . Proceedings of Board of Commissioners City of Paducah April 29 Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that upon recommendation of the City Manager the following personnel changes be made: 1. The termination of Clint Bradley,, temporary laborer in the Parks and Recreation Department, retroactive to April 18 , 1975. 2. The resignation of Phillip Nickols , patrolmen in the Police Department, be accepted, retroactive to April 26, 1975. 3. Kenneth Keith Smith, be employed as collector in the Refuse Department at a salary of $3.23 per hour, effective April 29, 1975. Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that the following bids on fire hose be received and filed: Eureka Fire Hose Henry A. Petter Supply Company Fire Equipment Servive Company Peter Pirsch & Sons Company Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (4) . Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that the Board of Commissioners approve the sale by the City of Paducah to Cosmopolitan Mortuary of the Northeast corner of Lot No. 336 in Block No. 6 of the Rushing Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery for the sum of $100.00 (Receipt No. 1681) , and that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery grave. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (4) . Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that the Board of Commissioners approve the sale by the City of Paducah to Cosmopolitan Morguary of the Southwest corner of Lot No. 340 in Block No. 6 of the Rushing Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery for the sum of $100.00 (Receipt No. (1679) , and that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery grave. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (4) . Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that the Board of Commissioners receive and file Change Endorsement to be attached to United States Fidelity and Guaranty Company policy No. FS 31681, changing the name of the insured from Paducah - McCracken County Recreational Tourist and Convention Commission to City of Paducah, which policy insures furniture and fixtures in the building located at 2701-07 Park Avenue. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (4) . Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that the resignation of Thomas E. Lambert as a member of the Paducah Golf Commission be received, accepted and filed. Commissioner Brumley offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED 'AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF SOUTHERN STATES ASPHALT COMPANY, INC. FOR SALE TO THE CITY OF ITS REQUIREMENT OF ASPHALT FOR THE YEAR 1975, TO BE USED IN STREET CONSTRUCTION AND REPAIR WORK, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR SUCH PURCHASE', WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ON APRIL 22, 197511, be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (4) . Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 25-28 'QUALIFICATIONS OF MEMBERS AND OFFICERS' OF ARTICLE II 'COMPINED AUXILIARY POLICE FORCE AND CIVIL DEFENSE POLICE FORCE', OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH , KENTUCKY", be adopted. Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED 'AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF REED CRUSHED STONE COMPANY, INC. FOR SALE TO THE CITY OF ITS REQUIREMENT OF LIMESTONE FOR THE YEAR 1975, TO BE USED IN STREET CONSTRUCTION WORK, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR SUCH PURCHASE', WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ON APRIL 22, 1975", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (4) . Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND CITY TREASURER TO PAY PADUCAH POWER SYSTEM THE SUM OF FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5000.00) AS CITY'S SHARE OF EXPENSES FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES TO BE PERFORMED BY TOWILL , INC. IN LOCATING AND MAPPING EXISTING UNDERGROUND UTILITIES ALONG BROADWAY FROM FIRST TO SEVENTH STREETS", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, ` Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (4) . Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED 'AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF NATIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY FOR SALE TO THE CITY OF Proceedings of Board of Commissioners Chy of Paducah PADUCAH OF ADJUSTABLE MANHOLE RINGS TO BE USED IN STREET RESURFACING WORK, AND 11 AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR SUCH PURCHASE', WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ON APRIL 22, 1975" , be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (4) . Mayor McNutt offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF HENRY A. PETTER SUPPLY COMPANY FOR THE SALE TO THE CITY OF 5000 FEET OF FIRE HOSE TO BE USED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR SUCH PURCHASE", be introduced and remain on file for public inspection for one (1) week in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage.
