HomeMy WebLinkAbout02/18/75358 Proceedings of Board of Commissioners Accept $11,937.01 Insurand for damage to refuse vehicle File bids for various parts to repair .Track Loader File bids on curb edger Settle claim of Bill Phillips No, City of Paducah February 18, 1975 At a Called Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber in the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 4: 30 p.m., on February 18, 1975 , Mayor McNutt presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) . Mayor McNutt offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that the executed copies of the Notice of Called Meeting to be held at 4: 30 P.M., on February 18, 1975, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) . Commissioner Brumley offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Coleman, as follows: I move that the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to accept the sum of $11,937.01 from the Travelers Insurance Company on behalf of Carrier Corporation, et al . , in full settlement of allclaims by the City of Paducah for damages arising May 24, 1974 as a result of defective con- struction of a refuse vehicle and a fire resulting therefrom, and I further move that the said City Manager be authorized to execute a release upon receipt of said sum. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) . Commissioner Brumley offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Coleman, that the following bids for sale to the City of Paducah of various parts to be used in the repair of City's Case 1150 Track Loader, be received and filed: Kentucky Machinery, Inc. West Kentucky Equipment Company, dated February 17 , 1975 West Kentucky Equipment Company, dated February 14, 1975. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) . Commissioner Coleman offered motion seconded by Commissioner Brumley, that the following bids for sale to the City of Paducah of a tractor mounted curb edger, be received and filed: Rotary Power, Inc. Casey Enterprises, Inc. Light Equipment Manufacturing Co. Inc. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas , Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) . Commissioner Coleman offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Brumley, that the claim of Bill Phillips in the amount of $204.10, for damage to his 1972 Thunderbird as the result of a collision with a City of Paducah Fire Department vehicle driven by Elmer Crouch, be allowed, and that the City Treasurer be authorized to pay said claim after securing a complete and final release. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) . Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that upon No. Proceedings of Board of Commissioners City of Paducah February 18, 1975 the recommendation of the City Manager, the following personnel changes be made: 1. The resignation of John R. Roberts, street repairman in the Street department, be accepted, retroactive to January 20, 1975. 2. Earl L. Gregory be employed as a temporary pump operator in the Floodwall Department at a salary of $2.10 per hour, retroactive to February 13, 1975. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) . Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that the claim of Robert P. McKeown in the amount of $405.05 for damage to his 1969 Ford automobile when struck by a City of Paducah police car at 28th and Broadway on January 16, 1975 be allowed, and that the City Treasurer be authorized to pay said claim after first obtaining a complete and final release. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) . Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that the Board of Commissioners approve the sale by the City of Paducah to Cosmopolitan Mortuary of the Southeast corner of Lot No. 324 in Block No. 6 of the Rushing Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery for the sum of $100.00 (Receipt No. 1651) , and that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery grave. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) . Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that the transcript of the public hearing held on January 28, 1975 concerning community development and housing needs, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) . Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that the following bids for sale to the City of Paducah of a compact automobile to be used in the Street Department, be received and filed: Wilson Chevrolet -Cadillac , Inc. Allan Rhodes, Inc. Stacy Chrysler -Plymouth -Dodge, Inc. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) . Commissioner Coleman offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Brumley, that a resolution entitled "A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR SALE TO THE CITY OF PADUCAH OF ONE (1) TRUCK MOUNTED VACUUM TYPE STREET SWEEPER, AND PRESCRIBING THE MANNER IN WHICH BIDS SHALL BE SUBMITTED", be adopted. No. City of Paducah February 18, 1975 Commissioner Brumley offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Coleman, that an F ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF WEST KENTUCKY EQUIPMENT COMPANY FOR SALE TO THE CITY OF VARIOUS PARTS TO BE USED IN THE REPAIR OF THE CITY'S CASE 1150 TRACK LOADER, FOR THE SUM OF $2,885.2611, be introduced and remain on file for public inspection for one week in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) . Commissioner Coleman offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Brumley, that an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND CITY TREASURER TO PAY TO THE PADUCAH -Mc CRACKEN COUNTY BICENTENNIAL COMMISSION A SUM NOT TO EXCEED $2,407.67 FOR EXPENSES INCURRED DURING THE 1974 BICENTENNIAL PROGRAM", be introduced and remain on file for public inspection for one week in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) . Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF ALLAN RHODES, INC. FOR SALE TO THE CITY OF FOUR (4) 1975 PICKUP TRUCKS TO BE USED BY THE PARKS, MAINTENANCE AND REFUSE DEPARTMENTS, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR SUCH PURCHASE", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) . Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF ROTARY POWER, INC. FOR SALE TO THE CITY OF ONE (1) KURB KUTTER, MODEL 700-L WITH MOUNTING BNACKETS , FOR USE BY THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT , AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR SUCH PURCHASE", be introduced and remain on file for one week for public inspection in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) . Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY TREASURER TO PAY THE SUM OF $2 ,104.50 TO UNION CARBIDE CORPORATION FOR CHEMICALS DELIVERED TO THE PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) . Mayor McNutt offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF ALLAN RHODES , INC. FOR SALE TO THE CITY OF ONE (1) 1975 FORD MAVERICK TO BE USED BY THE STREET DEPARTMENT, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR SUCH PURCHASE", be introduced and remain Proceedings of Board of Commissioners No. City of Paducah February 18, 1975 on file for public inspection for one week in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage.
