At a Called Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber in the
City Ha11, Paducah, Kentucky, at 4 30 p.m., on August 21, 1973, Mayor Profiem Puryear presided
in the absence of Mayor McNutt and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names:
Commissioners Harvey, Hornsby, Lambert and Mayor Protein Puryear (4)
Mayor Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that the executed
copies of the Notice of Called Meeting to be held at 4: 30 p.rn. , on- August '2-1, 1973; be 11 received and
filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Harvey, Hornsby, Lambert and Mayor
Protem Puryear (4) . _
Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Harvey, that
upon recommendation of the City Manager the following personnel changes be made:
1. James Allen Ward, temporary laborer in the Street Department'', be terminated,
retroactive to August 20, 1973.
2. Robert S. Best be employed as part-time truck driver in the Parks Department, at a
salary of $2.10 per hour, retroactive to August 16, 1973.
3. The following temporary laborers in the Refuse -Department be promoted to collectors
in said department, at a salary of $2.68 per hour, retroactive to August 20, 1973:

Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Harvey, Hornsby, Lambert and Mayor Protem

Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Harvey, that the
executed copy of the Contract between the City of Paducah and Allan Rhodes, Inc. for sale to the
City of a three -fourth ton truck for use by the Fire Department, be received and filed. Adopted
on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Harvey, Hornsby, Lambert and Mayor Protem Puryear (4) .
Commissioner Lambert offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that the
claim of Betty Joiner in the amount of $196.00 for damage to her Thunderbird automobile caused
by a City refuse vehicle driven by Robert E. Goodman, on August 14, 1973 at Normandy Frocks,
be allowed, and that the City Treasurer be authorized to pay said claim after first obtaining
a complete and final release. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Harvey, Hornsby,
Lambert and Mayor Protein Puryear (4) .
Commissioner Harvey offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that an
ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A JOINT CONTRACT
WITH THE COUNTY OF McCRACKEN AND COMMUNITY PROGRAM CONSULTANTS, INC. FOR
PLANNING AND ENGINEERING CONSULTING SERVICES, IN CONDUCTING A STUDY RELATING TO
THE FEASIBILITY OF ESTABLISHING A PORT FACILITY, PORT OF ENTRY, AND FOREIGN TRADE
ZONE IN PADUCAH-McCRACKEN COUNTY, KENTUCKY, AND PROVIDING THE TERMS AND
CONDITIONS OF SUCH CONTRACT", be introduced and remain on file for one week for public
inspection in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage. Adopted on
call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Harvey, Hornsby, Lambert, Puryear and Mayor Protem
Puryear (4) .
