Ofy of PaducaAugust 111973 _ At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber in the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7: 30 p.m., on August 14, 1973, Mayor McNutt presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Hornsby, Lambert, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (4) , Commissioner Harvey being absent. Mayor McNutt offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that the reading of the Minutes for July 24, 31 and August 7, 1973 be waived and that the Minutes of said meetings prepared by the City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Hornsby, Lambert, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5). Mayor McNutt made the following appointment: The terms of office of Andrew S. Wood and Richard A. Williams as members of the Paducah Planning Commission will expire on August 31, 1973. I hereby, subject to the approval of the Board of Commissioners reappoint Andrew S. Wood a member of said Com- mission for a further term of four (4) years, and appoint James Hunter a member of said Com-, mission for a term of four (4) years, so that said Commission shall be composed of the following members: Mrs. Irene Keiler whose term expires August 31, 1974 Mrs. Walter R. Penny -whose term expires August 31., 1974 H. Eugene Fisher whose term expires August 31, 1975 Robert D:: -Seat' whose term expires August 31, 1975 Wilbur M. Lee whose term expires August 31, 1976 Andrew ,S S. Wood whose term expires August 31, 1977 James Hunter whose term expires August 31, 1977 Commissioner Lambert offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that the Board of Commissioners approve the action of Mayor Alice H. McNutt reappointing Andrew S, Wood and appointing James Hunter members of the Paducah Planning Commission. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Hornsby, Lambert, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (4) . Mayor McNutt made the following appointment: The term of office of W. Howard Woodall as a member of the City of Paducah Municipal Housing Commission having expired on July 22, 1973, I hereby, subject to the approval of the Board of Commissioners, reappoint the said W. Howard Woodall for a further term of four (4) years, so that said Commission will be composed of the following members: Robert C. Massie, whose term expires July 22, 1974 James L. Munal , Jr . , whose term expires July 22, 1975 Ray H. Mullen, Jr . , whose term expires July 22, 1976 W. Howard Woodall, whose term expires July 22, 1977 Alice H. McNutt, Mayor and Ex -officio member Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Lambert, that the action of Mayor Alice H. McNutt reappointing W. The following be employed as temporary laborers in the Street Department, at a salary of $2.00 per hour, effective August 20, 1973: James Perry Skabo. Ricky Burgess ..James Allen Kurd Ronnie Dean Moore 2. Marvin Warren be employed as basketroom attendant in the Parks Department, at a salary of $1.25 per hour.,. retroactive to August 13, 1973. 3. Furman Lee Mickens be employed as :part-time laborer -in the Parks Department, at a salary of $2.00 per hour, retroactive to August 13, 1973. 4. That the following be employed as lifeguards in the Parks Department, effective August 20, 1973: Curt Hull, at a salary of $1.75 per hour Tresia Briedert , at a salary of $1.65 per hour Diane Wright, at a salary of $1.65 per hour Mark Wathen at a salary of $1.65 per hour 5. Commissioner Lambert offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that a copy of the Agreement dated July..17,_ 1973, between the City of Paducah and Marcum & Fuller, Associates, for engineering, services, in connection with the construction of a swimming pool at Blackburn Park, be received and filed. Commissioner Lambert offered motion , seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that the Board of Commissioners approve the _sale by the City of Paducah to Roxianna Hester and J . C . Cunningham of a parcel of ground 8 x 10 feet, being a portion of Lot No. 26 in Section 3 of V the Mausoleum Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery, and being known as Graves Nos. 26C and 26D, for the sum of $400.00 (Receipt No. 14801) i and that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery graves. Commissioner Lambert offered m"'otion , seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that the resignation of Rev. Francis Howard as a member of the Human Rights Commission, dated August 7, 1973, be received, accepted and filed. Commissioner Puryear offered motion that the Board of Commissioners approve the sale by the City of Paducah to Lindsey Funeral Home of a parcel of ground 4x10 feet, located on the southwest side of Lot 286 in Section 18 of Oak Grove Cemetery for the sum of $100.00 (Receipt No. 14805), and that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery grave. August 14, 1973 . Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Lambert, that the Board of Commissioners approve the .sale.,by the City of -Paducah to C. Warren & Molly- ,Eaton of the South one-half of Lot No. 17 in Section No. 3 in the Mausoleum Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery for the sum of $1, 000.00 (Receipt No. 14807) , and that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery lot. Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Lambert, that the City of Paducah, Kentucky, pay the $85.00 claim by Mr. Larry Stacey for damages sustained to his mobile home as a result of it being struck by a city refuse vehicle. Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Lambert, that an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF ALLAN RHODES, INC. FOR THE SALE TO THE CITY OF ONE 1974 FORD 3/4 TON TRUCK FOR USE BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR SUCH PURCHASE", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Hornsby, Lambert, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5). Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Lambert, that an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF COPELAND & COLEMAN EXCAVATING CONTRACTORS FOR THE DEMOLITION OF THE PROPERTY KNOWN AS THE INTERNATIONAL SHOE FACTORY, LOCATED AT SECOND STREET AND JEFFERSON STREET, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A JOINT CONTRACT WITH McCRACKEN COUNTY, KENTUCKY, FOR THE PAYMENT OF SAID DEMOLITION SERVICES", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Hornsby, Lambert, Puryear and Mayor M6Nutt (4) . Commissioner Puryear offered motion,seconded by Commissioner Lambert, that an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH , KENTUCKY, WITH MARCUM & FULLER, ASSOCIATES, FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE BLACKBURN PARK SWIMMING POOL", be introduced and remain on file for at least one week for public inspection in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commission- ers Hornsby, Lambert, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (4) . Mayor McNutt offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED 'AN ORDINANCE CREATING DIVISION 3, INSPECTOR, OF ARTICLE IX, DEPARTMENT OF ENGINEERING IN CHAPTER 2 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND SPECIFICALLY CREATING SECTIONS 2-190 AND 2-191', WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ON JANUARY 30, 197311, be adopted.
