Mayor McNutt offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Coleman, as follows: WHEREAS, -on August 7, 1974, Rodney Darnell, an employee of the City Refuse Department, filed a grievance pursuant to Article VII of the Contract between the City of Paducah and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees AFL-CIO Local 1586, pertaining to the elimination of the category of - Mechanics Helpersand reclassifying all persons in such category as Class "B" - Mechanics, and WHEREAS, under the provisions of said Contract the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, on August 30, 1974, conducted a hearing on the issues set forth in said grievance, and WHEREAS, at the aforesaid hearing statements were presented to the Board 287 Proceedings of Board -of Commissioners city ®{ Accept bid Arrow Blue Print Co theodolite & tripod Amend Sec. 10-52 St. Department and Sec. 10-53 Refuse Department Pay Brandeis Machii & Supply - parts & supplies for Refuse Department concerning the grievance by Mr. Jimmy D. William Howerton, and WHEREAS, after due consideration and deliberation the Board of Commissioners has made a decision regarding the issues involved. It is therefore moved that the response of the Board of Commissioners in regard to the aforesaid grievance be as follows: 1. That the grievance of Rodney Darnell be sustained, and that the Corporation Counsel of the City of Paducah is directed to amend Section 10-52 and Section 10-53 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah,e Kentucky, to eliminate the positions of Mechanics Helpers and to add one additional Class "B" Mechanic position for each of the aforesaid sections. 2. That effective as of September 2, 1974, Rodney Darnell and Joe Ford be reclassified from the position of Mechanics Helper to the position of Class "B" Mechanic. 3. That the City Clerk immediately send a copy of this motion to Mr. Jimmy D. Mills, President of AFSCME Local 1586, and Mr. Rodney Darnell, Refuse Department. Commissioner Coleman offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF ARROW BLUE PRINT COMPANY FOR SALE TO THE CITY OF ONE (1) THEODOLITE AND TRIPOD FOR USE BY THE CITY ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR SUCH PURCHASE", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Rolla Yeas, Commissioners Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (4) . Commissioner Coleman offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING A PORTION OF SUB -SECTION (a) OF SECTION 10-52 'STREET DEPARTMENT - GENERALLY', AND SUB -SECTION (a) OF SECTION 10-53 'REFUSE DEPARTMENT', OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (4) . At this point Commissioner Brumley arrived at the meeting. Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY TREASURER TO PAY BRANDEIS MACHINERY & SUPPLY CORPORATION THE SUM OF $3,229.53 FOR VARIOUS PARTS AND SUPPLIES FURNISHED TO THE CITY REFUSE DEPARTMENT", be introduced and remain on file for one week for public inspection in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5). Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF PETER PIRSCH & SONS COMPANY FOR SALE TO THE CITY OF ONE (1) 85 FOOT AERIAL LADDER TRUCK FOR USE IN THE PADUCAH FIRE DEPARTMENT, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR SUCH PURCHASE", be adopted.
