Mayor McNuttofferedmotion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that the reading of the Minutes for May 14, 21, 28,and June- 4,,1974 be waived and that the Minutes of said meetings prepared by the,,City'Clerk. be. approved .as, written Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,. Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby,, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5). Commissioner Brumley- offered motion,, seconded by Commissioner Coleman, that upon recommendation of the. City ,Manager , the following personnel changes be made: 1. The following persons be. temporarily employed in the Parks and Recreation Department, retroactive to June 10, 1974: Pats y Sue Earles as Day Camp Director, at a salary'of $72. 00 per week. Diane Elizabeth Carter. as Special Events Director, at a salary of $64A.00 per week Beverly- Corder as Special Recreation Assistant, at a salary; of O2A0 per week Susan S. Calloway as Arts & Crafts Director, at a salary of $58.00 per. week Mark C. Shelby as Food Truck Driver, at a salary of $1.6-5 �per hour Daniel G. Bondurant as Assistant Food Truck Driver, at a salary ­of, $1.65 per hour Lu Ann Fear as Children's Theatre Direc or-, a a I salary -of $2.50 per hour Russell V. Norris 'as- Assistant Day, Camp Director, at a salary of $54.00 per week. 2. Commissioner Coleman offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Brumley, that the Certificate of Insurance issued by St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company to the City of Paducah covering work done by Tilford Plumbing & Heating, Inc. for a period of one year from No. 248 Proceedings of Board of Commissioners _ . _ ___ __ city of Paducah June 11, 1974 Close CtfW St.j Planning Com. Response of Board of IV Commissioners grievance David Jeffords W.W.McManus Request bids Concrete Construction curbs, gutte: etc. March 13, 1974, be received, approved and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Com- missioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) . Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that copy of a motion adopted by the Paducah Planning Commission recommending closing of Cully Street, lying between the South Betline Highway and Brown Street, provided the City retain the entire right-of-way for easement purposes, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) . Mayor McNutt offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, as follows: WHEREAS, street department employees, David Jeffords and William W. McManus, have filed grievances to Article 7 of the contract between the City of Paducah and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees AFL-CIO Local 1586, and WHEREAS.,under the provisions of the aforesaid contract the Board of Commission- ers of..the_City:of Paducah, Kentucky,on JuneA, 1974 conducted a hearing on the issue set forth in said grievances,., and - WHEREAS, at .the aforesaid. hearing sworn_ testimony was presented by the said employees and various union officials appearing in their behalf and by the City Manager, J. William Howerton, and _. WHEREAS, under the terms of the aforesaid contract_ the Board of Commissioners are to respond in writing to the parties presenting ,the grievance within ten .(10) working days from the date of the hearing, and WHEREAS, after due consideration;and deliberation the Board of. Commissioners of the City of Paducah, Kentucky have, made '.t he following.decision in regard. to ,the issue involved. _ It is therefore moved that the .response :of. the Board of Commissioners in regard to the aforesaid grievances be as follows: - 1. That the action of the City Manager,, J.. William Howerton, in assigning David Jeffords and William W. McManus to day, shift employment be.approved for the reasons set forth in his letter to Mr. Tom Nickols, dated May. 9, 497.4. and as more -particularly set forth in his testimony before this Board on -June 4, 1974. 2. That the action of this Board in approving the aforesaid decision of the City Manager and denying the grievances. of the said employees shall not be considered as determinative of the seniority question of the said employees,. 3. That the City Clerk immediately send a copy`of this motion to the employees, William W. McManus and David Jeffords and the President of the American Federation of State, County and Municiip al.Employees AFL-CIO Local 1586. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) . Commissioner Brumley offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Coleman, that a resolution entitled "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS Proceedings of Board of Commissioners City of Accept bid Chas. Todd Uniform Ser- vice - Uniforms FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF CONCRETE CURBS, GUTTERS, SIDEWALKS AND DRIVE APRONS AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT THE CITY OF PADUCAH, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UPON WHICH A CONTRACT MAY BE LET", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) . Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded, by Commissioner Coleman, that an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF CHAS. TODD UNIFORM RENTAL SERVICE' FOR FURNISHING THE CITY OF PADUCAH WITH UNIFORMS FOR EMPLOYEES IN THE VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT", be adopted.
