A MUNICIPAL ORDER FOREGOING THE COLLECTION OF RENT FROM SEAMAN'S CHURCH INSTITUTE FOR SPACE OCCUPIED BY RIVER HERITAGE MUSEUM AND PADUCAH FILM SOCIETY AND INSTRUCTING THE CITY MANAGER TO WRITE AN EXPLANATORY LETTER. WHEREAS, the city has leased property located between Water Street and 1, Maiden Alley to Seaman's Church Institute; and WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners has authorized the Mayor to execute subleases for parts of the property leased to Seaman's Church Institute for use by River Heritage Museum and Paducah Film Society; and WHEREAS, the sublease provides for payment of rent by River Heritage Museum for space used by them and Paducah Film Society to Seaman's Church Institute; and WHEREAS, the sublease between River Heritage Museum and Seaman's Church Institute provides that no rent will be due to Seaman's Church Institute if the city does not access Seaman's Church Institute rent for space leased to River Heritage Museum; and WHEREAS, the city does not charge Yeiser Museum, William Clark Museum, or Market House Theatre for space they use in the Paducah Market House; and WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners desires to treat community museums and arts organizations using city property in a similar manner. BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. The City will not charge Seaman's Church Institute rent for space used by River Heritage Museum or the Paducah Film Society. SECTION 2. The City Manager is instructed to write involved parties explaining the action of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah. SECTION 3. This forgiveness of rent will continue until withdrawn by action of the Board of Commissioners. SECTION 4. The provisions of this order shall be retroactive to October 1St, 2001. SECTION 5. This order shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of its adoption.
