HomeMy WebLinkAboutMO # 076W, MUNICIPAL ORDER NO 76. =' :- A MUNICIPAL ORDER ESTABLISHING .GUI.DELINES FOR --FILLING VACANCIES WITHIN THE CLASSIFIED SERVICE OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, CHAPTER 10, CIVIL SERVICE WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah and KRS 90.350(6) provides for certain vacancies in the classified service to be filled by seniority rather than competititve examination, and WHEREAS, KRS 90.320(5) provides that the Board of Commissioners may designate that certain civil service positions may be filled first by competitive examination limited to present city employees, .provid6-d that a minimum of three employees with, -at, least-: two years seniority! with -the. city achieve a� passing; grade; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Board of Commissioners, as the appointing authority af.�the. City. -of ,Paducah., .'to establish �eriteria-f&k iinplementing fhe=:above referenced section. - NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH , KENTUCKY: SECTION—Ii;That the Board of Civil Service Commissioners of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, is directed to administer civil service examinations to present city employees without advertising outside the present employees of the city of Paducah, provided all the requirements of KRS 90.320(5) are met. This authority is limited to those positions covered by the bargaining agreement between Union Local 1586, AFSCME and the City of Paducah. The classification of laborer shall be filled by com- petitive examinations open to all qualified applicants. SECTION 2. Notwithstanding the above provision the Board of Commissioners, as the appointing authority for the City of Paducah, hereby establishes the following positions to be filled on a basis of seniority, provided that all conditions of Section 10-11 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah and KRS 90.350(6) are complied with: Classification I. a. Class "A" Truck Driver, Sewerman b . Street Repairman C. Truck Driver d. Laborer Promotions within this classification shall be on a basis of demonstrated ability to reasonably perform the duties of the job and thereafter on the basis of seniority. 100 Classification II. Equipment Operator "A" b. Equipment Operator nB c Equipment Operator "C" 71' 77 Promotions within the equipment operator classification shall be on a basis of demonstrated ability to reasonably operate the required equipment and thereafter on the basis of seniority from the next lower operator position. Promotions to Class "C" operator shall hereafter be based on requirement of the Civil Service Commission. Classification III. a. Maintenance Man I Meter Maintenance Man i -,,b v ;r,.-Mairitenance.
