HomeMy WebLinkAboutMO # 192338 MUNICIPAL ORDER NO. 192 A MUNICIPAL ORDER AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PADUCAH TO APPROVE THE APPLICATION OF VIETNAM VETERANS GROUP OF PADUCAH TO CONSTRUCT A MEMORIAL IN THE CIVIC_..CENTER-PLAZA WHEREAS, the Vietnam_ Veterans- Group of Paducah has requested permission to construct a Vietnam Veteran's Memorial in the Civic Center Plaza, near Washington Street, facing the Paducah Public Library, and WHEREAS, the base of the Memorial would be constructed -o.f reinforced concrete, concrete wheelchair ramps connecting the two existing sidewalks that lead into the Plaza, and WHEREAS, the Memorial will consist of a solid block of Georgia Granite, with dimensi ns of 9 feet 6 inches high, 4 feet wide and 8 inches thick. -The,bottom 18 inches will be embedded ii the base for stability, and f,inishe& on one -side only, and- WHEREAS, ndWHEREAS, the Memorial will contain replicas of the seals of the five branches of the Armed Forces, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard. Beneath the seals -will be the inscrip ion, "Proudly dedicated to the Kentuckians who faithfully.served their country in Vietnam", and be eath the inscription will appear the phrase "Bless them all", and WHEREAS, the expense and construction of said Memorial will be donated by the Viet Veterans Group of Paducah, at no expense to the City of Paducah. _ NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City of Paducah approve the construction of a Memorial in the C Center Plaza, facing the Paducah Public Library,:_o.f .a,Memorial to,the Vietnam Veterans. SECTION 2. This Order shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of adoption.
