MUNICIPAL ORDER NO. 233
A MUNICIPAL ORDER REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF
FIRE HOSE TO BE USED BY THE PADUCAH FIRE DEPARTMENT
BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be authorized to advertise for bids for the purchase
of fire hose to be used by the Paducah Fire Department, said hose to have the following speci-
fications:
1. SIZE The hose shall have internal diameter of three (3) inches.and be
coupled with two'and one-half (212) inch couplings.
2. QUANTITY 1,000 feet in fifty (50) foot lengths. Each length of hose with
couplings attached.
3. CONSTRUCTION Hose to be 100 percent polyester double jacket with rubber lining.
4. PRESSURE TEST Acceptance pressure test - 600 psi
Burst pressure test - 900 psi
Kink pressure test - 300 psi
When tested to an acceptance pressure of 600 psi the elongation shall
not exceed ten (10) percent of the Jength from -an initial measurement
taken at a pressure of 10 psi.
Twist, warp, and rise to be in conformity with NFPA No. 1961, Section
4-6, 4-7, and 4-8 respectively.
5. COUPLINGS Each section of hose to be coupled with extruded aluminum couplings
with three (3) rocker lugs on'male and swivel: Thread design to be
Paducah Fire Department special thread as follows:
3,:231 inch outside diameter
3.119 inch pitch diameter
3.007 inch root diameter
Six (6) threads per inch
A sample will be furnished by the Paducah
Fire Department upon request
6. MARKINGS In addition to those markings required by NFPA Standard 1961, the
words, "Paducah Fire Department", shall be indelibly marked on each
section of hose in letters at least one and one-half inch high near
the center of the hose.
Upon delivery all hose may be tested, inspected, and approved by the Paducah Fire
Department before final acceptance.
Any additional information shall be obtained from the Fire Chief's office.
SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for bids by inserting notice of the
request for bids in The Paducah Sun to be published as required by law. All bids received
shall be sealed and no bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice for opening of
same. All bids received by the City Manager up to the time fixed for opening of same shall be
filed with the Board of Commissioners, who may let a contract to the best responsible bidder,
and the Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids; and the City
shall not become legally obligated to purchase said fire hose until the final adoption of an
authorizing ordinance and the execution of a contract.
SECTION 3. This Order shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of its
adoption.
