HomeMy WebLinkAboutMO # 291502 MUNICIPAL ORDER NO. 291 A MUNICIPAL ORDER EXPRESSING THE CITY OF PADUCAH'S INTENT TO ADMINISTER COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS TO ACHIEVE THE INTENT OF THE PROGRAMS WHEREAS, THE City of Paducah, Kentucky, (hereinafter "City") has filed an application with the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Department of Local Government, Division of Community Programs (hereinafter "Commonwealth") seeking a Kentucky Community Development Block Grant CDBG in the amount of $672,250.00 for neighborhood improvements in the Whiteside neighborhood; and WHEREAS, earlier efforts to administer CDBG activities in the Whiteside neighborhood were rendered by certain citizens reluctant to participate in program activities; and WHEREAS, the resulting common benefit to be realized in the program by the residents of Whiteside were below the standards set forth; and WHEREAS, the Commonwealth has requested assurance from the City that such conditions will not prevail in the future efforts to improve the Whiteside neighborhood; and WHEREAS, the City is willing and desirous to render such assurances and does hereby commit to same in the following manner: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED that the City does hereby commit to the Commonwealth that it shall, methodically administer any future�Community Development Block Grant funds awarded to neighborhood redevelopment activities in Paducah to achieve the intent of the program; that the City shall perform the duties set forth in its scope of services outlined in the program profile, and where such activities may be met with resistance, shall pursue every measure of recourse, including but necessarily limited to, code enforcement, condemnation proceedings and/or other legal means.
