A MUNICIPAL ORDER CREATING A LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT
BLOCK GRANT ADVISORY BOARD, AS REQUIRED BY THE U.S. DEPARTMENT
OF JUSTICE, BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE
WHEREAS, pursuant to requirements established by the
U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, prior
to the obligation of any funds received under the Block Grants
Program, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah must
establish or designate an advisory board that includes repre-
sentatives of groups with a recognized interest in criminal
justice and crime or substance abuse prevention and treatment.
BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. There is hereby created and established a
Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Advisory Board consisting of
five (5) members, which members shall have a recognized
interest in criminal justice and crime or substance abuse
prevention and treatment.
SECTION 2. Said Board shall include representatives
from at least the following:
* Local law enforcement agency;
* Local prosecutor's office;
* Local court system;
* Local public school system;
* Local nonprofit group (e.g., educational,
religious or community) active in crime
prevention or drug use prevention or treatment.
SECTION 3. The members of said Board shall be named
by the Mayor, subject to the approval of the Board of Commis-
sioners. This Board and the members appointed shall be
reviewed by the Mayor and Board of Commissioners every two
years to determine continuation and/or modification of same.
SECTION 4. This Board shall have the following
responsibilities:
* Review applications for funding under the Block
Grants Program
* Make nonbinding recommendations to the Board of
Commissioners for the use of funds received
under the Local Law Enforcement Block Grants
Program
SECTION 5. The members of this Board shall serve
without compensation from the City, may not incur any indebted-
ness to be paid by the City, and the City shall not be respon-
sible for any debts incurred by the Board.

SECTION 6. This Order shall be in full force and
effect from and after the date of its adoption.
