A MUNICIPAL ORDER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER AND
THE CHIEF OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH TO
IMPLEMENT IMMEDIATELY A POLICY FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT
REGARDING THE ISSUES OF DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE AND
�- DISCIPLINE OF FIREFIGHTERS
BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. The City Manager and the Chief of the Fire Department of
the City of Paducah shall implement immediately a policy for the Paducah Fire Department
regarding the issues of driving under the influence and discipline of firefighters within the
City of Paducah Fire Department. This policy shall include, but not necessarily be limited
to, that a conviction of a DUI of a firefighter while on or off duty will result in the filing
of charges for the purpose of dismissal. This policy shall also reflect that the filing of
charges for the purpose of dismissal will occur when there is sufficient evidence under law
that the firefighter has violated the statutory law but was not convicted of the criminal act
of DUI.
SECTION 2. This policy shall be implemented immediately in a manner as
to be consistent with appropriate state, federal and local laws governing firefighters
f ' ` conduct and discipline.

SECTION 3. This Municipal Order shall be effective from and after the
date of its adoption.
