A MUNICIPAL ORDER ADOPTING THE KENTUCKY
RETIREMENT SYSTEMS ORDER OF PARTICIPATION STANDARD UNUSED
SICK LEAVE PROGRAM AS PROVIDED FOR BY CHAPTER 78.616(1)((2)(3)(4)

WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah is aware
of the provisions established under Chapter 78 to permit participating employers in the
County employees Retirement System to purchase service for unused sick leave for their
employees at the time of retirement; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah is aware
of the fact that an established bonafide sick leave program administered by the employer
for its employees is a requirement for participation in the program; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah is aware
that participation in this program is at the option of each employer participating in the
County Employees Retirement System because the employer is required to pay the cost of
unused sick leave credited for retirement purposes.
BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City of Paducah be and is hereby authorized to
participate in the Standard Unused Sick Leave Program as provided for in the County
Employees Retirement System effective April 11, 2000.
SECTION 2. That all present and former employees of the City of
Paducah will receive equal treatment within the administration of this program.
SECTION 3. That in addition to the cost for the first six (6) months of
service credit, the City of Paducah elects to pay one hundred percent (100%) of the cost
for service in excess of the first six (6) months of service pursuant to KRS 78.616(3) for
each employee who retires after the effective date of this Order.
SECTION 4. That the City of Paducah declares the following number of
hours to be equal to one (1) unused sick leave day:
7.5 or 8.0 hours equal one (1) unused sick leave day.
SECTION 5. This Order shall be in full force and effect from and after the
date of its adoption.
