ORDINANCE NO. 91-1-4561
AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING OPERATION AND/OR USE OF A
SKATEBOARD OR LIKE DEVICE IN THE BUSINESS DISTRICT OF
PADUCAH AND PROHIBITING UNSAFE OPERATION OF A BICYCLE,
ROLLER SKATES, SKATEBOARD OR LIKE DEVICE UPON ANY SIDEWALK
OR STREET IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
WHEREAS, the operation and/or use of skateboards
or like devices on City streets or on sidewalks located in
the City's business district present a hazard to both the
operator or user and to others; and
WHEREAS, the operation and/or use of bicycles,
roller skates, skateboards and other like devices when used
on sidewalks also present a hazard to both the operator or
user and to others; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to ban the
operation and/or use of skateboards and like devices on any
City street and on sidewalks located in the business
district and to regulate the use of any bicycles, roller
skates, skateboards and other like devices on any sidewalk
located in the City.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. It shall be unlawful for any person to
ride upon or_otherwise operate a skateboard or other like
device upon a street or sidewalk located in the business
district of the City of Paducah. For purposes of this
Ordinance, the business district shall as follows:
Beginning at a point, said point located at the
intersection of the floodwall and the south
right of way line of Kentucky Avenue; thence in a
westerly direction along the south right of way
line of Kentucky Avenue to the west right of way
line of 3rd Street; thence in a southerly
direction along the west right of way line of 3rd
Street to the north right of way line of Clark
Street; thence in a westerly direction along the
north right of way line of Clark Street to the
west right of way line of 7th Street; thence in a
northerly direction along the west right of way
line of 7th Street to the south right of way line
of Broadway; thence in a westerly direction along
the south right of way line of Broadway to the
west right of way line of 9th Street; thence in a
northerly direction along the west right of way
line of 9th Street to the north right of way line
of Jefferson Street; thence in an easterly '
direction along the north right of way line of
Jefferson Street to the west right of way line of
3rd Street; thence in a northerly direction along
the west right of way line of 3rd Street to the
south right of way line of Harrison Street, thence
in an easterly direction along the south right of
way line of Harrision Street to the floodwall;
thence in a southerly direction along the
floodwall to the point of beginning.
SECTION 2. It shall be unlawful for any person to
ride upon or otherwise operate any bicycle, roller skates,

skateboard, or other like devices upon any sidewalk or
street located within the City in such manner so as to be
dangerous or inimical to the use of any sidewalk or street
by any other person.
SECTION 3. Any person who shall violate any
provision hereunder shall be fined not less than Ten Dollars
($10.00) nor more than One Hundred Dollars ($100.00).
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be read on two
separate days and will become effective upon publication in
full.
