AN ORDINANCE CLOSING A PORTION OF MAPLE AVLMWOOD ENUE
LYING EAST OF H.C. MATHIS DRIVE, A PORTION OF ABYLLEY LYING
LYING EAST OF H.C. MATHIS DRIVE AND A 15 FO
EAST OF H.C. MATHIS DRIVE
WHEREAS, Walker Towing Corporation, Air Products
and Chemicals Inc. and Lenita S.
Smith have requested that a
portion of the rights-of-way known as Maple Avenue and
Elmwood Avenue and a 15 -foot, all lying east of H.C. Mathis
Drive, be closed; and roved these
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission app
closings on March 2, 1992; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners finds that
these rights-of-way are unimproved and are not needed as
✓ public rights-of-way; and
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City of Paducah does hereby
authorize the closing of a portion of Maple Avenue and
Elmwood Avenue and a 15 -foot alley, all lying on the east
side of H.C. Mathis Drive, which are more particularly
described as follows:
MAPLE AVENUE
A certain tract of land known as Maple Avenue and
lying east of H.C. Mathis Drive, in Paducah,
McCracken County, Kentucky, and being more
particularly described as follows:
Beginning at an iron pin set 30.00 feet east at
right angles from the centerline of H.C. Mathis
Drive, and 30.00 feet north at right angles from
the centerline of Maple Avenue, said iron pin is
also the southeast corner of Lot One of Maplewood
Terrace Addition as recorded in Deed Book 42,
page 2;
Thence south 15 degrees 14 minutes 43 seconds west
for a distance of 60.05 feet with the east line of
H.C. Mathis Drive to a point 30.00 feet east at
right angles from the centerline;
Thence south 72 degrees 29 minutes 02 seconds east
for a distance of 300.00 feet with the south line
of Maple Avenue to a point;
Thence north 15 degrees 14 minutes 43 seconds east
for a distance of 60.05 feet to an iron pin set at
the southeast corner of Lot 6 of Maplewood Terrace
Addition as recorded in Deed Book 42, page 2;
Thence north 72 degrees 29 minutes 02 seconds west
for a distance of 300.00 feet with the north line
of Maple Avenue and the south line of Lots 1
through 6 of the above referenced addition to an
iron pin, the point of beginning.
ELMWOOD AVENUE
A certain tract of land known as Elmwood Avenue
east of H.C. Mathis Drive, in Paducah, McCracken
County, Kentucky, and being move V& t10u1A3:3,Y

Beginning at an iron pin set 30.00 feet east at
right angles from the centerline of H.C. Mathis
Drive and 30.00 feet south at right angles from
the centerline of Elmwood Avenue, said beginning
point is the northwest corner of Lot Seven of
Maplewood Terrace Addition as recorded in Deed
Book 42, page 2;
Thence south 72 degrees 29 minutes 02 seconds east
for a distance of 300.00 feet with the north line
of Lots 7 through 12 of the above referenced
subdivision to an iron pin set at the northeast
corner of Lot 12;
Thence north 15 degrees 14 minutes 43 seconds east
for a distance of 60.05 feet to a point marking
the southeast corner of the Air Products and
Chemicals, Inc. property as described in Deed Book
616, page 120;
Thence north 72 degrees 29 minutes 02 seconds
west for a distance of 300.00 feet with the north
line of Elmwood Avenue and the south line of Air
Products and Chemicals, Inc. property to a point
marking the southwest corner of said property and
being 30.00 feet east at right angles from the
centerline of H.C. Mathis Drive;
Thence south 15 degrees 14 minutes 43 seconds west
for a distance of 60.05 feet with the east line of
H.C. Mathis Drive to an iron pin, the point of
beginning.
15 FOOT ALLEY
A certain tract of land known as a 15 foot wide ✓
alley lying east of H. C. Mathis Drive and being
south of Elmwood Avenue and north of Maple Avenue,
in Paducah, McCracken County, Kentucky, and being
more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at a point set 30.00 feet east at right
angles from the centerline of H.C. Mathis Drive,
said centerline point is located 170.92 feet south
with said centerline from the centerline
intersection of Elmwood Avenue and H.C. Mathis
Drive, said beginning point is also the southwest
corner of Lot 7 of the Maplewood Terrace Addition
as recorded in Deed Book 42, page 2;
Thence south 15 degrees 14 minutes 43 seconds west
for a distance of 15.00 feet with the east line of
H.C. Mathis Drive to a point 30.00 feet east at
right angles from the centerline, said point is
also the northwest corner of Lot 1 of said
subdivision;
Thence south 72 degrees 29 minutes 02 seconds east
for a distance of 300.00 feet with the north line
of Lots 1 through 6 to the northeast corner of Lot
6 of said subdivision;
Thence north 15 degrees 14 minutes 43 seconds east
for a distance of 15.00 feet to the southeast
corner of Lot 7 of said subdivision;
Thence north 72 degrees 29 minutes 02 seconds west
for a distance of 300.00 feet with the north line
of said alley and the south line of Lots 7 through
12 of said subdivision to the point of beginning.
SECTION 2. The Corporation Counsel of the City of
Paducah, Kentucky, is hereby authorized, empowered and
directed to institute and prosecute, pursuant to KRS 82.405,
an action in McCracken Circuit Court for a judgment ordering
the closing of the streets and alley described in Section 1
above.

SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be read on two
separate days and will become effective upon summary
publication pursuant to KRS Chapter 424.
