HomeMy WebLinkAbout93-8-4991log ORDINANCE #93-_L.�(22 AN ORDINANCE CREATING SECTION 2-421, HOLIDAY AND VACATION PAY FOR EMPLOYEES OF THE 911 EMERGENCY COMMUNICATION SERVICE, OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH WHEREAS, the City of Paducah and McCracken County have heretofore entered into an interlocal cooperation agreement providing for emergency communication service for citizens of Paducah and McCracken County; and WHEREAS, pursuant to said agreement, the City and County created the Emergency Communication Service Board and delegated to said board the authority to set the wages and benefits of employees of the Emergency Communication Service; and WHEREAS, said board has considered the issues of holiday and vacation benefits for part-time employees of said service and has requested the City of Paducah to implement its recommendations; Kentucky: NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the City of Paducah, SECTION 1.. The City of Paducah hereby creates Section 2- 421, Holiday and Vacation Pay for Part -Time Employees of the 911 Emergency Communication Service, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, which shall read a follows: Section 2 -421 -Holiday and Vacation Pay for Employees of the 911 Emergency Communication Service. (a) For the purposes of this section, a qualifying quarter of service shall be a quarter in which a part-time employee of the Emergency Communication Service is paid for a minimum average of 30 hours of work per week. (b) All full-time employees of the 911 Emergency Commuication Service shall be entitled to holiday and vacation pay in accordance with Sections 2-20 and 2-21 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah. (c) After completion of one year of service with the Emergency Communication Service, part-time employees shall accrue vacation at the rates set forth in Section 2-21(a.1) of the Code of Ordinances for the City of Paducah for each qualifying quarter of service. Said vacation will accrue at the end of each quarter, with each qualifying quarter constituting three months of service. All other provisions of Section 2-21 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah shall apply to part-time employee of the Emergency Communication Service, except as set forth herein. .r11qIr -'T.T:., ib '.1'e,,�i f..'--'1 —T.�1 I� i -:l1 Kiri 1. (d) After completion of one year of service with the Emergency Communication Service, part-time employees shall be granted holiday benefits and pay in accordance with Section 2-20 of the Code of Ordinances of the city of Paducah for each qualifying quarter of service. For determining an employee's eligibility for holiday benefits and pay, reference shall be made to the quarter preceding the holiday in question. If said employee did not complete a qualifying quarter of service during the preceding quarter, he or she shall not be eligible for holiday benefits and pay for which he or she would otherwise be entitled. (e) Notwithstanding the foregoing provisions of this section, no part-time employee of the Emergency Communication Service shall be entitled to accrue vacation or holiday benefits until he or she has completed one year of service.
