ORDINANCE NO. 87-12-4003
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 10-49, 10-51, 10-56, 10-59,
AND 10-61, "CIVIL SERVICE" OF THE CODE OY ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That Section 10-49 of the Code of Ordinances of
the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said
section as amended and reordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 10-49. Department of finance.
This department shall be under the direction and supervision of
the city treasurer - finance director, a noncivil service
position which has heretofore been created by separate ordi-
nance.
(a) There is hereby created and authorized the following
positions in the department of finance, and the salary of each position
that shall be paid upon satisfactory completion of consecutive years of
service, in this position, and upon recommendation of the City Manager:

SECTION 2. That Section 10-51 of the Code of Ordinances of
the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said
section as amended and reordained shall hereafter read as follows:

"Sec. 10-51. Engineering Department.
(a) There is hereby created and authorized the following
positions in the Engineering Department, and the salary of each posi-
tion that shall be paid upon satisfactory completion of consecutive
years of service, in this position, and upon recommendation of the City
Manager:

(b) Whenever an employee of the engineering department is
appointed acting department head by the Board of Commissioners in the
absence of a city engineer, they shall receive in addition to their
regular compensation two hundred seventy-one dollars ($271.00) per
month, until July 1, 1984, and the sum of two three hundred
seventy-nine dollars ($2 379.00) per month after 4ely-I;-198& January
3, 1988. This sum shall not be considered as part of the base pay and
will be received only so long as the designated person continues as
acting department head.
SECTION 3. That Section 10-56, Wastewater Treatment Depart-
ment, be, and it is hereby, amended and reordained so that said section
as amended and reordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 10-56. Wastewater Treatment Department.
(a) There is hereby authorized and created the following
positions in the Wastewater Treatment Department, and the salary of
each position that shall be paid upon satisfactory completion of con-
secutive years of service, in this position, and upon recommendation of
the City Manager:

SECTION 5. That sub -section (a) of Section 10-61, "Un-
assigned Positions" of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah,
Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that the same as amended and
reordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 10-61. Unassigned Positions.
(a) There is hereby authorized and created the following
positions not assigned to any department of the City of Paducah, but
directly under the supervision of the City Manager, and the salary of
each _position that shall be paid upon satisfactory completion of

(b) The chief of the maintenance division may designate one
maintenance specialist in his department to act as a lead man or
part-time working foreman to serve in such capacity at the direction of
the chief of the maintenance division. The maintenance specialist so
designated shall be paid an additional $1.00 per hour during such times
as the maintenance specialist designated actually serves in such
capacity.
(c) The salary range of individual employees in the
Emergency Communications Department shall be set by the Board of
Commissioners by Municipal Order within the range hereinabove set -
forth. The number of employees shall be set by Municipal Order.
SECTION 6. The raises set out in this ordinance shall be
effective January 3, 1988.
SECTION 7. This ordinance shall be read on two separate days
and will become effective upon publication of title and a certified
summary thereof.
