ORDINANCE NO. 87-7-3039
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 25-28 and 25-29 OF CHAPTER 25,
POLICE, OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That Section 25-28 of the Code of Ordinances of
the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be amended as follows:
"Sec. 25-28. Qualifications of members and officers.
Each member and officer of the combined auxiliary police
force and civil defense police force shall be a resident of the
Commonwealth of Kentucky, in good physical condition, able to read,
write and understand the English language, and no person shall be so
appointed unless he is a person of sobriety and integrity and is and
has been an orderly, law-abiding citizen. Each member and officer
shall be at least twenty-one (21) years of age. Each member and
officer of the combined auxiliary police force and civil defense police
force shall be required to take the same physical and mental
I1 examinations as required by the City of Paducah for members of the
V regular police department of the City. The Chief of Police shall
establish minimum training requirements for members of the combined
auxiliary police force and civil defense Police force which shall
include, but not be limited to, training as to Kentucky Penal Code,
training as to proper arrest procedures, training as to proper use and
handling of firearms, and other training as deemed necessary by the
Chief of Police."
SECTION 2. That Section 25-29 of the Code of Ordinances of
the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be amended as follows:
"Sec. 25-29. Oath and bond of members and officers.
Before entering upon the performance of his duties, each
member and officer of the combined police force provided for in this
1, article shall take the oath of office required of a regular police
department and shall execute a bond in the sum of one thousand dollars
($1,000.00), with corporate surety to be approved by the city
treasurer, conditioned that he will faithfully perform the duties of
his office. The premiums for such bond shall be paid by the city."

SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be read on two separate days
and will become effective upon publication of title and a certified
summary thereof.
