AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE GIFT OF REAL ESTATE KNOWN AS THE
OLD ST. MARY'S CONVENT FROM,HARRIS & McKINNEY MANAGEMENT, INC., AND
AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF SAID REAL ESTATE TO THE LOWER TOWN NEIGHBOR-
HOOD ASSOCIATION,.INC...
WHEREAS, Harris &.McKinney Management, Inc., an Ohio CorporaD_
-
tion with its principal office located at 1801 Oberlin Road, Middle-
town, Pennsylvania 17057, doing business in Paducah, Kentucky, as
Careercom, owns a parcel -of real estate known as the old St. Mary's
Convent, which is adjacent -to Careercom'.s school in Paducah, Kentucky;
and _ . .
WHEREAS, Harris &'McKinney Management, Inc. is interested in
preserving historical property; and
WHEREAS, Harris & McKinney Management, Inc. does not have the
ability to restore the historical structure located upon the property
hereinabove described; and
WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City to aid Harris &
McKinney Management, Inc. in accomplishing their goals of historical
preservation; and
WHEREAS, Lower Town Neighborhood Association, Inc. is a
Kentucky non-profit corporation, organized for the purpose of histori-
cal preservation in Paducah, Kentucky; and
WHEREAS, Lower Town Neighborhood Association, Inc. desires to
help preserve the old St. Mary's Convent by taking title to said real
estate from the City of Paducah, to make said structure immediately
safe and find a long-term renovator of said structure.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. The City hereby accepts the gift of real estate
from Harris & McKinney Management, Inc., an Ohio corporation, of
property known as the old St. Mary's Convent, adjacent to the Careercom
school site in Paducah, Kentucky.
SECTION 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to negotiate
specific terms of the gift and is authorized to execute any and all
documents necessary to accomplish the purpose of this ordinance and the
transfer of the above-described real estate.
SECTION 3. The City hereby agrees to transfer the real
estate above described, immediately upon receipt of the deed, to Lower
Town Neighborhood Association, Inc., a Kentucky non-profit organiza-
tion, under the same terms and conditions that the City receives said
property from Harris & McKinney Management, Inc.
SECTION 4. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute any and
`'"" all documents necessary to accomplish the purpose of transferring the
above-described real estate to Lower Town Neighborhood Association,
Inc.
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall be read on two separate days
and will become effective upon publication of title and a certified
summary thereof.
