AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 15-4 & 15-5 AND CREATING SECTION 15-7
OF CHAPTER 15, HEALTH, OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH,
KENTUCKY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That Section 15-4, Accumulation of rubbish or excessive growth of grass or
weeds—Declared unlawful, of Chapter 15, Health, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah,
Kentucky is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 15-4. Accumulation of rubbish or excessive growth of grass or weeds—Declared-
unlawful.

(a) It shall be unlawful for the owner, occupant, or person having control or management
of any land within the City of Paducah, Kentucky, to permit a public nuisance health hazard or source of filth to
develop thereon through the accumulation of rubbish or excessive growth thereon of grass or weeds.
(b) Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor
and, upon conviction, shall be fined in any sum not less than-tea4ellaws-{%4.4)0) fifty dollars ($50.00) nor more
than three hundred ($300.00) for each offense, and each day such violation is committed or permitted to continue
shall constitute a separate offense and shall be punishable as such hereunder".
SECTION 2. That Section 15-5. Same—Notice to remedy situation; action by city upon
noncompliance by owner, of Chapter 15, Health, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky is
hereby amended to read as follows:

�! "Section 15-5. Same—Notice to remedy situation; action by city upon noncompliance by
owner
Whenever such a situation is discovered, the building inspector of the City of Paducah shall
give five (5) days written notice to remedy such situation. The said notice shall be mailed to the last known
address of the owner of the said real property as it appears on the current tax assessment roll, or the, occupant, or
person having control or management If the last known address is known to be faulty, and the current owner
cannot be located, an affidavit of diligent search may be filed, and no further written notice is required.
Upon the failure of the owner of said property to comply, the building inspector, or other
responsible officer of his department designated by him, is authorized to send employees or hired contractors
upon said property to remedy the situation.

building inspector or their designee The placard may not be removed by anyone except the building inspector or

SECTION 3. That Section 15-7, Citations, of Chapter 15, Health, of the Code of Ordinances
of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, is hereby created to read as follows:
"Section 15-7. Citations
Any person found by the building inspector to be in violation of the provisions of 15-4(a) and
15-5• and after written notice has beenyen per 15-5 the building inspector may issue a citation. Upon
conviction in the court of pKgM jurisdiction the pgson shall be fined any sum not less than ten dollars ($10.00)
nor more than three hundred dollars ($300.00) for each offense and each day such violation is committed or
permitted to continue shall constitute a separate offense and shall be punishable as such".

SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be read on two separate days and will become effective
upon summary publication pursuant to KRS Chapter 424.
